“Bike N Roll - a lot of fun!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2010

I live in Northern VA and we do a lot of sightseeing when friends and family come to visit. We decided to try the "Monuments at Night" bike tour because we thought it would be fun, we'd get some exercise, and it would be neat to see the monuments at night.]

Our tour guide was Ben, a recent local graduate. He was patient with us, he didn't ride too fast or too slow, and he was knowledgeable. We wore helmets and orange reflective vests and got going. We rode to the Jefferson Memorial, FDR, Lincoln, Korean and Vietnam War memorials, the Einstein statue, WWII memorial and the White House - we had some extra time so we rode to the Capitol as well. They give you water and snacks and time to get out and take pictures and wander around each monument.

I imagine it's difficult to take this tour during the day if the crowds are big - but it was just great at night.

“The Smartest Way to Start your Vacation!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2010

I smiled when I read Carzim's review of Bike and Roll because we were on the same Capitol Sites tour last Wed. morning!! Trust us...this is the best way to begin your trip as you will get a wonderful overview of many sites in an entertaining, informative and "cool" way.

Our guide, Amy, was knowledgeable and energetic. Even though it was a warm day, our 10am-1pm trip felt comfortable the entire time. (I felt sorry for those we past who looked tired and hot!) Amy made sure we stopped in the shade whenever possible while learning about a new site, and we were given a generous bottle of water to keep us hydrated. I was sooo glad that we booked this tour on our first morning, and would definitely book it again should we return.

“The single best way to see DC--comfortable, efficient, inexpensive and environmentally friendly”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2010

We saw twice as much as we could have in our one day available, comfortably (the breeze while biking is a nice relief from the heat!), efficiently, with control (we could stop wherever and whenever we wanted), and inexpensively (with a $5 discount for mentioning their ad, it cost each of us $30 for a full 12 hours)! The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and patient, it's easy to find, and as long as you show up in reasonable time in the morning (at least on weekdays) there are lots of bikes. You can also reserve ahead of time on line if you rent for a full day. DC is an easy city to bike in, at least around the main tourist areas. We enjoyed getting around by bike thoroughly and also felt virtuous--no emissions!

“Bike the Sites”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2010

We knew we wanted to rent bikes during our visit to DC. However we have children of 8yrs , 4 yrs and 11 months so finding attachments, seats, etc was a challenge. We called a few places and none were able to provide a solution. Should have called Bike the Sites first.
We did not want a tour, just to go where we wanted. We rented two adult bikes, one kids bike and a two-seat pull-behind contraption called a Burley. All of them worked great. The Burley even had some storage for all our diaper bag, snacks, cameras, etc.
We did the half day rental ($25 each for adults and $18 each for the two kids items) from 145 to 545. I was concerned about renting it at this city location since we wanted to ride on the C&O canal. It was no problem as they are close to the Mall. Once at the Mall, there is low concern about traffic. You do have to dismount and cross a few streets though.
We biked down to the riverfront path and passed the boat center before entering the Canal path proper. Then we turned around, crossed the bridge and visited Arlington Cemetary. Made it from there to the Bike return in about 25 minutes of hard pedaling. I was glad for the food court in the adjoining Old Post Building for some cool refreshments and AC.
