“Lovely Gardens and interesting museum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2014

Dumbarton Oaks is a worth a visit when wandering around Georgetown. The museum is a very manageable size, with interesting Byzantine and Pre-Columbian artifacts. (It's also free.) The gardens do cost to get into, but it's well worth the money. The terraced garden rooms are arranged on a hillside. There's plenty to wander through, and it's a lovely, quiet little oasis. We went in the middle of summer, but I'm sure it would be just as interesting in the off season, when you can see the underlying architecture.

“One of my favorite spots”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2014

I am a native Washingtonian. I was born and raised in the city, and I love Dumbarton. I really enjoy going there for some quiet reflection and reading.

The gardens are stunning, even in the off season, and there are a lot of quiet places to escape to

There are many beautiful things in DC to see and do, but this is one of my hidden gems. And for gardeners, this is must see stop

“Old and Tired”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2014

We were most disappointed. Perhaps this was a beautiful garden at one time. It appears to have been neglected for many years. Save your money, time and effort. There are many other things to do in Washington, DC.

“Calm oasis”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2014

Worth a visit as part of a walk around Georgetown. This is a lovely garden with many terraces and different interesting sections. Incredibly peaceful and hard to imaging you are so close to central Washington. A pleasant couple of hours. The addition of a small tea room would make this place perfect

“Only Garden in US to get top from National Geographic!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2014

National Geo Traveler just rated Dumbarton Oaks as one of the world's top ten gardens. And the only one in the US. I've reviewed the garden before, so I won't say much more except that I agree it's world class.
