“My heart breaks as I walk along the wall”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2013

After visiting the Lincoln Memorial I walked over to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial the wall with the list of the names of those Americans that died in the war. Among the names are relatives and neighbors from my home town. It is not hard for me to imagine all the wondrous things these people might have additionally accomplished if they lived out their normal full life years. The Memorial is simple yet elegant which seems to make one reflect one their own reflection from the list of names on the wall. This monument is about events of my generation and I think it is a must see when in Washington D.C. It breaks my heart as I walk along the wall......an ever thankful and grateful citizen.

“Powerful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2013

So many people, so little noise. Hard to believe how many names are on this wall and memories that are lined up along the bottom. I really liked how the women are honored as well.

“Visited at night”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2013

We walked by this memorial at night, and while lit, the lighting is quite dim. We still enjoyed the memorial and it is a very powerful sight even in the dark!

“Very moving”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2013

Visited during Memorial weekend and there were thousands of Vets about. Moving thank you from some Vietnamese people who saw the war as a fight for their freedom.

“moving tribute to our veterans”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2013

This simple but powerful memorial is a must-see, with the names of all Americans who died etched on black granite. There is a book with the names of everyone who died, where they were from, and their location on the wall. This is a short walk from the WW2 memorial and Lincoln memorial
