“Moving experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2014

This was a moving experience and got to go behind the box seats. The theater is smaller than I thought and they used to pack many more people in because of standing room. Did not think the house across the street where Lincoln actually died was worth the wait.

“History busting out all over!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2014

You can't get any more history than the place where this country's most loved president died. I loved the way it has been preserved.

“a great piece of history”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2014

Museum on lower level does an excellent job of explaining the historical context of what happened in this storied place. The park ranger upstairs was very knowledgeable, as well, and we sat in the theater for about a half an hour just listening to him answer questions and talk with folks. I'm writing this review for the ranger who says he's reads every, single one. lol : )

“A bit to modernized”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2014

I've been to Ford's Theater numerous times but not since they did the major renovation. Now it's a bit too modern and I think it takes away from the experience. You also weren't able to go right up to the box where Lincoln was shot. You can only do that in the winter months when it's not so busy. I never had to do that until they did the renovations. Also, there is a new museum which is nice but can get quite crowded. You also need to get tickets now to get into the theater which was also something new. You don't have to get a ticket but it's recommended. When they do the history of the theater, we didn't stay to hear it but instead walked across the street to the house where they took Lincoln after he was shot. I recommend doing that only because we ended up beating the crowd and it was like having our own personal tour which was nice. They also added a new museum inside the house but attached to it. That was new and worth seeing. I love the history of the theater but was sort of let down just by the modern things they did to it.

“Visit the Box!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2014

As there was a rehearsal being held in the theatre, we weren't allowed downstairs. However, instead we were allowed actually into the box where Lincoln was shot. It was a great experience and we got some super photos.
