“Dont Miss”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2009

Probably the nicest interior of any building in Washington.Try & take one of the organised tours as hopefully like on our tour you may get into some of the impressive smaller rooms that are not always open to the public. The guides are volunteers & have a real passion for the history of the building & its contents .Go to the library of Congress before the Capitol because you can access Capitol Hill from the library by an underground walkway & this avoids the long security lines for the Capitol. You may need directions for this route from the guides as it is not signposted at the moment.

“Incredible architecture and interesting artifacts.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2009

The Jefferson building of the Library of Congress is definitely worth a visit when in Washington. The introductory film was quite interesting and gave highlights of the collections. It was very busy the day I was there, so they offered short 15 minute tours as well as the full length one. The 15 minute tour was perfect and allowed me more time to view the exhibits. One of my favourites was the Bob Hope and Vaudeville exhibit. Very fun. If you're interested in history or architecture you won't be disappointed. Give yourself at least a couple of hours to see everything.

“Best interior art, architecture and design”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2009

Much better than expected. The visual impact of the interior was more impressive than the US Capitol or the White House. The guides are well versed and have much pride in their tours. Having the personal listening device allows for a better presentation. Totally recommended.

“MUST SEE--Thomas Jefferson Building (Library of Congress)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2009

If you only have one hour in DC, visit the Thomas Jefferson Building of the Library of Congress. The marble columns, stained glass skylight, painted ceilings and frescos require no in-depth tours or explanations (although tours are available and there's a lot to learn about the background of the building.) It's a feast for the eyes every where you look. Since the building opens at 8:30, you can even visit before other museums open. There's also a great view of the back of the capitol building from the entry landing. Take your camera!!

“Good tour - Great building!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2008

This was one of our favorite stops on our recent trip to DC. Neither my wife or I were overly excited or interested, but the building sells itself. The hallways are amazingly colorful and full of history. Beautifully desinged ceilings. A definite must-see.

The two exhibits that were up (Early Americas & Jefferson) while we were there were fantastic as well.

It might not sound like a great place to visit, but it is a definite must-see!
