“Whoa!!!! If you love books & so much more this is the ultimate!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2012

No waaay to sum this up - If you think it just about history and politics - that is sooo wrong! It is everything else, but make sure to give it as many day as you can.
It is one of the most important places to visit in Washington. Yes it's a library, and it's not a place to run around & make noise, but it's so far from the stodgy impression libraries sometimes represent - you just have to experience all that it has to offer. Nothing could top the purpose here. It's got it all - literally! Visiting and experiencing it is a must!

“I want to live here!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2012

I loved the Library of Congress. Anyone who loves books will especially love it here. The marble and statutes and paintings are all spectacular. I especially liked the Jefferson Exhibit showing his private collection of books (or what's left of them) that he sold to the Library. My favorite, of course, was the reading room. You don't get to actually go in there without special permission but you can view it from above behind glass. It was fabulous!

“Beautiful building/exhibits”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2012

When taking the tunnel out of the Capitol to the Thomas Jefferson building, you will enter the Library of Congress. Beautiful halls and many famous quotes await you, and the Thomas Jeffersen exhibition is amazing, containing rare books and his extensive collection. You can only glimpse the famous dome and library, but well worth the visit.

“Excitement Deferred”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

We fully expected this to be a highlight of out trip in November. However, the reading room was closed, making this tour very bookless. Big disappointment.
