“fun and educational”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2012

although this museum was pricey, they had interesting things to see.

my favorite: the Pulitzer Prize photos. There were several photos that had their story attached, which was great to find out about the background. There were some that made you think, and some that you wonder what happened to the people in them.

“One of the best DC museums”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2012

Absolutely a must see in DC. Everything news related...but tells the story of America through the media lens. No sensationalism, just great coverage of how important the news is to recording our history.

“Great museum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2012

In a city of great museums, the Newseum is a great current addition. Well laid out, with fascinating documents and artifacts, multimedia and interactive experiences. We happened to come on Teacher Appreciation day, which meant a huge discount.

“History through the eyes of journalists”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2012

We'd seen this place on TV and decided, since we'd been to the Smithsonians recently, we'd give it a shot. Definitely exceeded our expectations. The artifacts and exhibits in this place are very impressive - we found ourselves saying "Whoa, they have THAT?" Our favorite exhibits included the gallery of Pulitzer-winning photos and the front pages of historic events dating back hundreds of years. Current events exhibits were very current. The 4D movie is just OK, but it's all included in the price of admission, so you might as well take it in.

Think of it this way- with all the amazing free museums in DC, this place charges for entry (and it's not cheap)... but we still found it very much worth the time and money. We spent about 3 hours here and saw most of the highlights, but history/news buffs could easily spend a day exploring each exhibit in depth, taking part in the interactive newscast, taking a look at the TV studios, etc. Highly recommended!

“Cool Museum - all about the news”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2012

When in DC, check out the Newseum. While not a part of the free Smithsonion Institute museums, it is an interesting alternative providing a great history of news. Definitely check out the 911 exhibit as well as the Berlin Wall exhibit. Very cool.
