“Riding the Black Hills”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

We did this the week before the Sturgis Bike Rally. Lots of other bikes but not so many you couldn't enjoy the mountain views without fear of running over someone else. Great riding, great vistas, great food, and we always ended the day with a stop in Sturgis. The week before the rally, most of the Sturgis venues were set up and in operation - just not as many people to worry about. I would recommend this to anyone over 35 who has "been there - done that" and just wants to enjoy themselves.

“Black Hills Beauty”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2012

This place is a must see! The hills are connected to Custer State Park and have unusual rock formations in all the trees. You can see for miles in some locations and there is one area where you drive in the middle of all the TALL stones and a tunnel. You can see Mt.Rushmore as you go through the tunnels. Wonderful place to hike, drive and take pictures. Sylvan lake is BEAUTIFUL! Refections make a great picture. Great for picnics. Enjoy!

“A Hidden American Gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2012

The Black Hills of South Dakota is an amazingly beautiful place. Yes, Mount Rushmore is a must but explore all the small lakes and hiking trails. The normal tourist stuff is okay but you need to get out and explore with a local map of the hills. Pick your pleasure(s) - - there is plenty of wonderful things to see and do! The short hike around Lake Pactola is a nice start.

“a lot to see”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2012

The Black Hills of South Dakota are an interesting place to visit. Lots of history, and beautiful country. There are many tourist attractions, we tend to avoid them but for those who visit from areas that do not have a lot of natural ways to see nature, they are worthwhile. Mount Rushmore is most well known, but there are many other attractions worth your time. The Crazy Horse Memorial is taking shape, the face is clearly visible now! Custer State Park is definitely a must visit! Lots of Buffalo and other wild life. Be sure to look for the wild donkeys! If you ride a Motorcycle, there are dozens of rides around the "Hills". Most exciting are Iron Mountain road and the Needles highway, but almost all roads make a great ride! You can drive these roads in the family bus but are best on a bike! Be sure to get one of the maps available just about everywhere as the Hills can be confusing at first, and keep in mind that the area in NOT cheap!
