“Let the kids play!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2013

Walk over the river bridge and let the kids run about while you watch the sun go down! Very fun. Nice picnic area. Definitely go there, don't miss! Relaxing, and lots of room to walk and wander.

“Beautiful Park in the Desert”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2013

Many years ago, the City of Carlsbad dammed the Pecos River for their municipal power plant. Today there is a lovely tree lined park which stretches for over a mile along the river. Paved walks, benches, the water and not that many people mean you will have this park all to yourself.

“Christmas lights on the Pecos”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2013

We enjoyed the chilly but beautiful river Christmas lights cruise, it was just the right amount of time (about 40 minutes). I thought it was a little pricey for what it was, but they do include blankets to keep you warmer. Some of the displays are really religious which might not be for everyone, but overall, it was a very nice experience if you're in town.

The Christmastime boat tour is highly recommended! Lots of lights, they give you blankets when it is colder, but of course dress for the weather!!

“Beautiful and scenic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2012

We visited the river as part of the annual Christmas on the Pecos, which is a boat ride up and down the river. Private homes and businesses along the river decorate the waterfront and make for an especially scenic ride. The entire ride is only about 45 minutes along. At the landing where you catch the boat there are a few vendors set up and a place to grab a coffee or hot chocolate. The price is small for such a nice way to spend an evening. Make sure to reserve tickets ahead of time through the local Chamber of Commerce.
