“Take The Hike to Shovel Point”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2014

A beautiful park on the North Shore. Great spot for hikers and rock climbers. The hike out to Shovel Point has a beautiful pay off of stellar views. Easy hike for kids too! The hike however is not for those who don't like stairs! If your knees give out easily...you might opt for a different trail. The new visitor center is quite nice.

“Is this Heaven?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2014

Probably not but it is great. Tettegouche is more than just a hard word to spell it's an amazing state park. This place is literally huge. There are so many amazing things to see here. A good place to start is Shovel Point. It starts out with a huge staircase to the top. Probably about 200 stairs so be ready for a work out! The views will literally take your breath away, if the stairs haven't already. When we came we saw some people doing some rock climbing out on the point and it looked terrifying. The Baptism river is one of many good places to swim here so bring your swim suit. You could spend a week here and not see all of it. But it's worth the trip just to see a little. Second best state park in MN and almost the best really for the sheer size.

“Better like stairs!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2014

This state park has to fantastic waterfalls. We hiked to both of them on both sides of the river just get some different views. The trails are shaded in the woods type trails with rocks and roots to keep you focused. The best views of the falls require walking down (and back up) plenty of stairs. The longest flight I counted was 199 stairs. We got an early enough start that we did not see many people until we went up the second side of the river. This is a great place to day hike!

“Spectacular park with challenging hiking”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2014

We took our motorhome camping at Tettegouche. The campsites were spacious and very private. Tall trees and brush surrounded each site. We stayed in site 15e and it was big enough for our 40ft coach. The whole park is incredible. The friendly new visitor center and the camp hosts were wonderful. The campgrounds are located right next to the Baptism river and getting to the waterfalls is very easy. We saw deer, groudhogs, squerels, raptors, and loons. The waterfalls are huge. The hiking is challenging due to the elevation changes and even the simpler trails have long stretches of stairs. If you are looking for something like Gooseberry falls you will be dissapointed since the waterfalls and river is so much more powerful. The lake shore hike to shovel point will give you goosbumps. Its the best view of the north shore. Lots of cliff faces so be careful when taking children.
