“Put the UP on your bucket list now!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2013

Just returned from 5 days in the UP. Every time I visit, I marvel at the pure beauty of this enchanting place. I'm a world traveler and while in the UP I can see Alaska, Ireland, Nova Scotia and a host of other places -- the UP is all that and more!
Small, small towns, nice people, wonderful scenery! The coast of Lake Superior is spectacular!
While there, be sure to visit the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum in Whitefish Point and Tahquamenon Falls in Paradise, MI...
And be ready for the tranquility to settle in. When you return home, you already are planning when you can go back!!

“Look out for the mosquitoes this year.... They drive trucks and run you over!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2013 via mobile

The lake was beautiful, the water was wonderful. But we had to leave due to the infestation of mosquitoes, flying ants . Dispersed camping sight where hiking in is the only way to get there. After we left we spoke to some folks and they said it is really bad this year. Take your bug sprays and yard guard!

“Not even time to fish with Graduation but enjoyed the visit....Gould City, Engadine, Curtis Area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

We always love visiting the Upper Peninsula. The people are so friendly and there is always a ton to see and do. This visit was packed full of High School Graduation activities but we did have a little down time to enjoy a couple bonfires and some mushroom hunting. We only found caps which are not really edible but it was still nice to get out and do some hiking and exploring in the woods. With it being Spring the wood ticks and the mosquitoes were a little on the heavy side. So be prepared to tuck your pant legs in your socks and use some form of repellent!

“Western up ... Take the time to visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2012 via mobile

From the far western end near ironwood in the old mining country to copper harbor in the kewanaw peninsula where the Finnish miners settled the history and wilderness surrounds you. Vistas of Lake Superior are breath taking, a visit to the porkipine mountains state park, bond falls near Paulding, you can camp, stay in mom and pop motels, eat the Finnish pasties, you will not be rubbing elbows with other travelers. There often will be limited cell phone service, the roads may seem endless ..make sure you keep your gas tank above 1/4tank...but you keep your eyes on the watch for deer, moose, wolves, sand cranes, eagles... Take in a local festival... Meet the real yoopers... Have some Finnish toast. Fall is the display of autumn colors, winter is blanketed in snow and ice... Great for winter sports, spring brings smelt runs and fishing, summer is beautiful with comfortable days and cool nights. Take the time to experience the western up.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

We stayed in a wonderful RV resort in Petoskie, Hearthside Cove
Enjoyed many great day outings in lots of the towns around this area,
All along the Shores of Lake MI, :-) Awsume views!
Miles and miles of bike/walking trails that also follow the water, again
Awsume! Wonderful eaters ever where, good spots along the water too.
Definently do the drive thru. The Tunnel Of Trees, and at the end eat at
The Legs Rest. Yummy, again with the view of water!
So many places to see and so much to do, glad we had a month here.
