“A nice drive to get away.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

I thouroughly enjoy a nice scenic drive down hwy 160 into the delta from Sacramento. Hwy 160 follows the river all the way to the delta. Lots of farmland and orchards - qaint towns to stop and grab a bite to eat - farms to stop at and get fresh produce... in fall you'll find many a pumpkin patch to get your jack-o-lanterns.

“1100 miles of waterway!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2012

The California Delta is my summer home. The Delta has well over a thousand miles of waterway to explore! The many sloughs and rivers crisscross each other like a lace tablecloth. There are a multitude of things to do, fishing, boating, dining, camping, wine tasting, sightseeing, etc. If you're a boater, there are many, many marinas to meet your needs, whether it's just to launch, be a live-a-board, or just about anything in between. There are numerous restaurants and bars to whet any appetite. Yes....as one reviewer said, the water is brown...that's just beacause of the silt of the peat dirt that covers all the farmland of the region. People swim in it everyday to no detriment that I've ever seen in the 51 years I've been here. If you venture into the North part of the state, check it out!!! You won't be sorry.

“A Big Surprise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

The Delta area is such a pleasant surprise to busy Sacramento. Such a wonderful gift awaits the people of California. The Sacramento River, all the sloughs off the river, the lakes and other rivers are great for boating and fishing. The ride along the levee leads you past small original Chinese villages like Locke, beautiful little communities like Walnut Grove. Clarksburg has great wines. If you go back on the slough levy you can find Bogle Winery which is in a unique location. Also, check Trip Advisor for neat places to stop and eat. Some very unique that serve peanut butter with your steak. (in Locke). The wildlife is great too. Keep looking and you may see wildlife in the water, like a sea lion. Many different birds. Boaters are lucky to be able to explore this region on the waterways. Well worth your visit to plan time in the Delta.
