This was an amazing experience. You head NE out of Palmer for about an hour and a half of breathtaking scenery to get to this glacier, that's pretty much in the middle of nowhere. You can see the glacier spilling into the valley from a far distance. We used a tour company called MICA guides that will take you out on the glacier and provide you with hiking boots and crampons (boot spikes.) The glacier is HUGE and they take you up and down the rolling hills of ice and show you waterfalls that you can drink from and all sorts of different glacial formations. We even randomly met two german guys who were out there filming a documentary for National Geographic. I HIGHLY recommend taking the time and money to go experience the glacier. It feels sort of surreal that there can be this giant field of ice in a warm valley in the summer.
