This is a fantastic place to stay on your vist to Cuba, we go here every year and sometimes twice a year to this particular hotel. We have stayed in other hotels and in other areas of Cuba but we prefer this one by far, i really dont know where to start but if i say i love it you will understand.
The people at the hotel are first class and i think anyone would be cared for here.
The hotel has things to do and excursions to go on, its spotlessly clean and the food is excellent, if you have booked or are thinking of booking then you dont need to worry ( be excited )
Staff are first class and we have become freindly with many, i have been to many other countries and i think its the best..
.. Caution, many steps and cobbled pathways which older folk may not like ..

I love it and i recommend it, we are going to this hotel twice this year and i may just retire here, jajaja
Adios amigos

This was my first time to cuba, weather lived up to all expectations. Hotel is a vast site so much to the extent that there are little golf buggies that run you back and forth to your room. Beautiful beach with plenty of parasols and trees to seek shade under. Ample swimming pools and sun loungers around the pool. Food was perfectly edible but as per the majority of all inclusive can become a bit repetitive after 2 weeks, the onsite al a carte restaurants were a nice change from the main restaurant of which i can recommend the Cuban and Mediterranean restaurants. If you do chose to stay at the hotel the only down side is with the exception of the local market which is a car or bus journey away you are pretty much confined to the resort. Staff were more than helpful and accommodating a few peso tip here and there certainly seemed to help. overall the hotel was clean with plenty of space so you don't feel like your constantly tripping over other guests. would definitely stay again.

Room Tip: given the choice i would aim to have a room between the restaurant and the pools otherwise you are i...

Although I have been to the Caribbean many times before this was my first trip to Cuba.Decided to book a holiday for a week to escape the cold wet weather at home and get some sunshine and a a bit of a tan and have fun. Both myself and my husband like all inclusive hotels as you don't need to worry about bringing much Money aside from tips, trips and souvenirs.

Arrival at the airport- very quick and about an hour transfer approx on an air conditioned bus.Didn't realise it has a toilet at the back of the bus until the return trip home but bring your own tissue paper as this is always in short supply !!Very interesting journey as there are loads of people riding horse and carts as lots of people cannot afford to own cars.Saw lots of Classic American cars from the 1950's and classic bikes.

Arrival at the hotel- swift check in then given a welcome glass of sparkling wine which was great.I e mailed the hotel ahead to request block 7 and an upstairs room and was impressed to get my request. The reception staff were very friendly and helpfull the a electric buggy takes you to the block by your room.

The Room - Lovely big and spotlessly clean room with a comfy beds - 2 singles I pushed together - who cares about a double bed as you are here to enjoy the sun!!!As I always get bitten by anything that bites !! took some bug spray and as there were loads of mosquitos in the room got hubbie to spray all the vents - worked a treat for the rest of the holiday.Had a coffee making machine in the room but if you like milk take powdered milk with you.The air con was excellent and only turns itself off if you open the balcony door.We had plenty of hot water apart from when we were up at 5am one morning so I expect the heating hadn't come on.On the balcony were 2 rocking type deck chairs and it was great to watch all the bats fly past early in the morning and listen and see all the birds.Lots of varieties of birds as the hotel is in a wooded area.Forgot to say had a good fridge restocked daily with a large bottle of water , 2 cans of pop and beer.

Money exchange- this is located to the left of the Reception in the lobby at the top of the hotel - it opens at 8am and all you need is your passport.Took UK Sterling for tips and souvenirs but found out the hotel will change US dollar notes to their local Currency called a CUC or peso as they are called.Guess what found a $100 dollar note which I had left in my purse from my last holiday!! Think the exchange rate is about 1.4/5 CUC to Canadian Dollar or UK Pound

Hotel Facilities- Most of the eateries such as the buffet restaurant and the al la cartes are at the top of the complex. There is also a nice bar ion the lobby you can get sparkling wine in a glass.Outside the entrance you can hire scooters for 30 or 25 CUC a day and they are all in pristine condition with good tyres plus you can hire pushbikes. There is a shop on the complex which opens at about 9.30 and sells tolietries nappies, clothes , rum ,cigars ,clothes , fridge magnets etc- not overpriced in my opinion.Outside the shop you can buy postcards, and cigarettes which cost about 1.20 CUC for those of you who are smokers. The internet cost only 3CUC for 30 mins get a card and pay at reception.Nice air conditioned gym just above the towel exchange plus next door you can get a back massage for 20 CuC for 30 minutes.

Beach and pools - all very nice but I liked the top pool near the 24 hour bar as you can have a good swim as most were very shallow. The beach was lovely and clean but the only downside was the sandfleas got bitten to death although my husband didn't hence spending more time at the top pool - maybe it was because of the lovely rum punches. There is also a nice beach bar remember to bring you cool flasks to save a long wait for the bar and better than plastic glasses.

Food and Drink- Had no problems with food the 24 hour open air bar does sandwiches all the time and you can get nice Pizzas and super coffee from there. The buffet was fine just went at lunchtime and got nice salads to take to my room for later - took my own bowl.Only ate in one Al la Carte - the seafood restaurant which was lovely - had a shrimp cocktail plus a lobster - no complaints. My favourite place to chill out was the 24hour bar the staff were amazing so friendly and fun - they had such character and always remembered our names and ha time to chat even though they were so busy. Thanks especially Di, Giselle and Morbeto and all the others whose names I can't remember.Incidentally if you like football/Sport you can watch this here as they have SKY/ESPN and a fantastic music channel with loads of great music and dance on the 2 TV's

Highlights l- the dancing lessons by the entertainment staff,Have a go it's fun. Also enjoyed the stalls at the bottom of the pools bought a beautiful sketch of Che Guevara and a wonderful handmade Mahogany mask.

Downside - the toilets were really awful and dirty with no loo paper near the beach and not so good by the 24 hour bar which was next to the Grill restaurant Best to use the Lobby toilets at the top.

All in all a fun place to go - great holiday reps and staff- would go back again in the future.

I am a well traveled 56 yr old man. I typicalyy stay at 4 and 5 star resorts, and better cruise ships. A few notes on this hotel. Service was exemplary. The grounds were spectacular and immaculately kept. The food was average, but plentiful. The buffet was never congested. The beach was lovely, The musicians were very good. The pools had plenty of loungers.

This resort is not for people who cannot do plenty of walking and stair climbing, as the lobby and restaurants are at the top of a hill.... 70 steps above the main pool and beach area. So there is lots of stairs to climb every day.

Two items are needed to turn this into a 5 star resort. First.... newer beds, and a greater number of king beds. Second ..... washrooms at the main pool level.

I would gladly return to this hotel.

So for the most part the reviews they are accurate, but wanted to give the alternatives now that I have been and really enjoyed the hotel, surroundings and people.

Alot of Stairs - Yes = they have paths winding around the resort as alternative, abit longer walk to get were you got to go,but gives you a chance to see this HUGE resort. They also have electirc golf carts to zip you around. Stairs are really not that bad
Mosquitoes - Yes = bring afterbite, the bug spray "OFF" etc wont work, just get bit and remedy the bites with aloe vera and afterbite. they do not smoke the grounds as this place used to be somekind of botanical gardens so alot of greenery, trees labeled very nice
Huge Resort - Yes = found the vacationing people the prob and not the resort. Heard complaints of drinks not being served in correct glasses', no ketchup, slow service. I was generous with tips so besides the ketchup had NO, NONE ZIPPO issues, you cheap tight tourists should try it you will get better results.
Food Bland - Yes = they add salt and pepper as your request it, either than that buffet food is taste and try all event, nothing to get stufffed on.
A-La-Carte not good - debateable = seafood restaurant food way to chewy, Cubano, Grill were excellent food spicy and flavourful
Bugs in Rooms - Nope = not mine the best rooms are 400-700

Some very important information when booking that will save you headaches and will make your trip as wonderful as mine.

Let them know your coming and your room preference etc, travelling with kids, elderly if you do so they accomodate you no surprises

Fly Sunwing the flight was 3.5hrs gave decent food and snacks which included a glass of red or white wine, trip by bus to hotel 1hr. smooth sailing without issues.

Have a good time, you will be bitten by mosquitoes so be ready, ocean/beach is beautiful. Take it in stride, layback and remember its a vacation and not a complaint fest. BIG GRACIAS to the HOTEL STAFF -YANELYS LOBBY BAR OBRIGADO for the coffees and greating us with beautiful smile and exceptional service, MI AMORE. CARLOS at the Playa thank you for recognizing us on the beach and having chairs waiting for us, MUCHO OBRIGADO. GILBERTO at PLAYA BAR thank for fish and chips and keeping the drinks coming without asking. JANI at the PLAYA keeping the grounds clean and tidy hope you enjoy the gifts for you and your family.

Would recommend Holguin its more south, ocean is warmer and weather was really hot with little clouds. Dont visit the same hotels twice so would recommend for first visitors and would try others when re-visiting. Feb.06 - Feb.13

Back from our week stay. Three couples. Excellent time. Think most complainers don't do enough research. This is four star. Was never bit, guess what in the woods it's Mosquitos and they fog every night for it. Stairs yes, on a cliff. Provides exceptional views. No hot water, turn the valve to the right not left. Always hot water. Too lazy to walk, shuttle at main lobby duh! Embarrassed to hear older lady one morning yelling at security guard to get on his phone and call for shuttle "NOW!" he does not have contact with main lobby, and um phone in ur room case u didn't know. Sat at a table for 8, waiting meet up with other couples, filled a breakfast plate. Sat back down with my wife. Lady approached our table, sitting behind us and with no manners what so ever scooped up some cutlery off our table and sat down at hers, never even asked just grabbed. Probably "ASSumed" we took a table for 8 for just the two of us. I never said a word wonder how she felt when the other couples began to sit. Thank u to the lady who budded in front of me in the omelette line! LOL with nothing said like oh I'm sorry are u I line? Think most of the whinners should go to a 5 star I mean geez shouldn't have much go wrong their right? Spend the extra money to have a longer blanket, maybe more tv channels, pert plus and a Heineken in your fridge. Dont know bout u but pretty sure I'm just sleeping in their. Enjoying my days outside in a beautiful tropical paradise! Did u know the life guards make $12 a month if u have a few extra peso's left over that u were maybe willing to spend at ur 5 star resort instead throw one to the pool boy! Your stay is what u make it, do some research. Had a blast at this resort, unfortunately I did not get to see cirque du solei, did not have aaa beef every dinner, a duvet to curl into on hot nights, an escalator to escort me to my room, a terry cloth robe, welch's grape jam, or HBO. Nope just clean room, clean gorgeous pool, food to fill my belly and a smiling Cuban every time I said gracious amigo!

This was our thrid trip to the Turquesa.
We took my sister in law and her husband with us.
We royally enjoyed it.
The new ownership is trying to make some enhancement that will
further improve this resort.
The food was GREAT; the rooms comfortable ; the beach supwer; but most importanly, the people were great! They wanted to serve us and make sure we were enjoying our stay.
We'll we going back !
