“Great Trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013

We just had our second visit to the Blau Costa Verde in Cuba and we loved going back. We went back to the BCV to celebrate my wife's parents' 50th wedding anniversary and everything went fantastic!! We had a wedding vow renewal ceremony that was organized by Barbara in the Public Relations group and it was beautiful. The detail they put into it was great and the price was very reasonable. The Blau has an amazing beach and lots of activities for both kids and adults. The weather was gorgeous every day and we only had rain for 3 hours out of the entire week. We liked the food last year but they have a new head chef this year and the food quality has increased greatly. They have done some renovations to the main building as well as build a new wing with it's own pool and pool bar. It looks really good but wasn't open while we were there and they wouldn't let guests walk around on those grounds. They have built a new restaurant as well and the food there was superb!! This hotel is rated as a 4 star resort but it has to be one of the top 4 star vacation spots in Cuba. We loved our trip and would go back for a 3 time tomorrow if we could!!

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the "first" pavillion (rooms starting with a "11--". These roo...

A very nice trip for me and my two daughters (11 and 7 years old). It was my second time in Cuba and my daughters' first and we were looking for something eventful and pretty active. And we've got fully served for that! :-) The activities were all up and running all the day through the night. All those activities were rewarded at night show during the "Winner time". We have got some medals - a great memory for the trip. I loved the hotel for how the location is, because the swimming pool is in the middle of everything, bars, gym, kids club, stage and game room for kids were all around, which is good for parents who want to stay around their active kids without having to move around very much or occasionally join them for activities. My daughters left the hotel persuaded that Leo (Leoxdeni is his full name) is the best entertainer in the world. He made the aqua gym and salsa classes very enjoyable and fun. I also appreciated Yoann, Jorge, Jarixa and Dariel (Hope I spell correctly their names). There are more of them but we did not get the chance to know all the entertainers. And I have to mention the amazing hair dresser who made braids on all the kids heads!!! Walks on the beach are great, sunsets and sunrises are awesome! I really enjoyed snorkeling and wind surfing. Many people went to diving. There are some rocks in water, so need to be careful, but it was not that bad. And if to go into water more by the corals there are no rocks at all. I was less impressed by the food, but my daughters ate 2-3 plates at one shot, made me happy. The service is adjusting pretty quickly thanks to Paula's wise management. Unfortunately we could not make it to the dinner at the Italian restaurant, but heard it was excellent. We only had pizza there at lunch, really delicious! The Hotel is getting bigger but we were not disturbed by the construction at all. Maybe it will be different when all the new blocks are in service and with the second large swimming pool in there. All in all we had a vacation we were aiming for and met really nice people from Quebec, Ontario, Halifax, Germany. And the last thing which does not really relate to the hotel but our vacation was bought with SunWing. It was greatly planned, served, the pilots made terrific smooth landings, loved it very much. Two thumbs up for our vacation!

This trip to the Blau was our sixth. We liked this hotel because of its smaller size and were concerned that things might change with the new construction. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the atmosphere was the same as ever. Many improvements have been made since our visit in April 2012. The lobby has been opened up and is very attractive. The main dining room has been updated and is air- conditioned now. The food continues to be very good. Returning guests will be happy with the new restaurant near the beach. The noise of the construction does not bother and we did not find the facilities more crowded even though there were already guests in the new part of the hotel. The room we stayed in had been updated and was very comfortable. There are lots more palapas installed at the beach. Most importantly, the staff continues to be most friendly and helpful. We had such a great time that we are returning again in April with some members of our family.

We travel to this resort at least once per year sometimes more. The added units will ruin this resort. There were only two or three new units open in February but already we see the change, the line ups are too long both at the Buffet restaurant and the beach bar. One night I walked out of the restaurant with nothing on my plate, It opened at 6:30 and by 7:30 the chicken was all gone...and it was open until 9:30...hope you like pork! The pasta line had 15 people waiting with one girl working. The beach bar had several lineups through out the day of 20/25 people waiting! The beach is small and there is no way that another 800 to 1000 people can get on that beach. On the plus side the staff are the best and Barbara wonderful. we will give it a try next year but will probably be looking for a new place to go! Jewel in Jamaica is great!

Room Tip: unit 1 is quieter and closer to the beach.

Good trip.

My wife and I got away for our first trip without the kids in a long time. We found the resort very relaxing with an excellent beach. We snorkeled everyday for several hours seeing lots of colourful fish.

Management was helpful and went out of their way to help us resolve any problems.
Food: The Bbst a la carte was the Italian, The Cuban was very similar to the dinner buffet (good, but not great). We did take a side trip to a restaurant called La Loma in Guardalavaca, Best lobster I've had in a long time.

Room Tip: Stay away from #2 block's 1st two floors as the noise from the pool table and ping pong table, w...

second time at a blau. first time in punta cana so we were happy to visit another blau. the hotel was all we expected it to be. nice clean rooms, good people, good food. What we didnt like at all was standing in line for everything. drinks, food, stores. even at lunch time when you could get pizza at the itilian el la carte, you would have to line up for an hour before it opened and hope it didnt close before you got your pizza 2 hours later now the resort is under construction, which didnt bother us at all, but they are going from accomadating 306 rooms to over 800 rooms. cant imagine how long you will have to wait then. now this has nothing to do with the resort, but it deserves mentioning, we flew with cubana air and on the way down a passenger was ill with pneumonia. on the way back, i would say that at least17 people were sick with either the flu or pneumonia. there has to be a better way to handle a case where a passenger who might be contagious should not be allowed to travel. and the crew seemed not at all happy, but rather somwhat surly. please these are just one mans views.

Room Tip: the new section 16 or 17 block
