“Pleasant stay, pleasant hosts.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2013

It was very nice and pleasant to stay at Casa Meyer in Trinidad. Mercedes's home looks quite astonishing with a beautiful, peaceful garden. Our room was spacious and comfortable. We spent 4 nights there and I wouldn't might to stay here again if I come back.

Casa Meyer has a beautiful interior - anybody with an interest in colonial architecture should make a b line here . The rooms are simple & clean - Mercerdes ( the owner ) runs her casa with in a relaxed way & makes you feel at home with out being in your face . The location is very central - opposite the excellent tourist office ! We would definitely stay here again !

We stayed here for 4 nights in January and loved every minute. It's near where the bus stops but is extremely quiet. The photos don't really do the house and patio garden areas justice. The bedrooms and bathroom were spotless and very comfortable. Mercedes is such a lovely woman and Jonnie Walker the dog is great fun! We loved Trinidad most of all our travels. The house is near the small square Sven and 1 minute from Plaza Mayor. Playa Ancon is 12km and is a must, take a coco taxi or other and enjoy the ride! the Taberna del Bogeita is fab for food tapas and decent wine. Wakey Wakey Shakey Shakey is great for drinks and lunch. Everyone heads for Casa de la Musica at night, it's in one of the main squares so you can't miss it! These also an
Internet cafe around the corner from Casa Meyer which we found helpful. Great place, can't wait to go back.

We were 2 friends enjoying our trip around Cuba...but once we arrived to Trinidad and Casa Meyer we felt that special atmosphere. the house is like a living museum! Mercedes is a very nice person and she can help you to know the city almost without going out of the house :) .....our room was placed at left wing of the house, every thing was very clean, the floor, the sheats...we even could have 2 extra towels... the bathroon was very clean as well (we found that very unusual in Cuba) and the patio is a 'eden' for the very hot afternoons in Cuba.

For me and my friend it was a really surprise having found a “casa” like that in Cuba, personally, I had been in Trinidad for three times and I can’t compare Casa Meyer with any of those I stayed before, We’d been driving for almost 5 hours from Vinales to Trinidad, so when Mercedes opened the door, it was like WOW!!! Do we are back in 18th century now!!! ..... Mercedes(with her you will feel like in home, you can ask her any question about the city and she’ll tell you about the better places….even you can argue with her about any Europe geographical or cultural matters, obviously she is a very cultured woman) drove us to our room, it was at the right side of the house with a huge bathroom(where you can play football in), everything was very clean and tidy. We had dinner there only the last day(we spent 4 ) and we regretted no having had it for all, the food was excellent, lobster, rice, salad and of course one bottle of white wine.
You definitely should stay and eat here if you go to Trinidad any time!

This home is truly beautiful. We got to Trindad and did a bit of casa particular hopping but in the end decided on this lovely colonial home. It is spacious, and the hostess, Mercedes is great. She speaks English and was very excited to find out that we were from Egypt. Talking to her was very interesting , since she had great stories. The house has a great location, with an amazing sugarcane juice stands 1 min away- for 10 pesos nacionals- truly refreshing on hot days. The best thing about this house is that MErcedes will help in any way she can, so you feel right at home, yet you also have all the privacy you need.

Courtyard is beautiful too. All casas in Cuba are incredibly clean, but this one had a very nice modern toilet in a very old bathroom. http://www.hostalcasameyer.com/options.php (but website doesn't do the place justice)

Casa Meyer is located in the historic center of the city, near all the museums, and old squares and just 2 min walking from the bus station. Since the building was built at the beginning of the XIX century, its design and original structure have almost not changed, letting the house retains its colonial atmosphere, with an inner patio with ornamental plants and surrounded by porches, where you can rest during the warm trinitarian afternoons. We rent 2 beautifull colonial style rooms, each with windows, through wich you have a nice view of the garden, both rooms have AC and privated bathroom with cold/hot water. We can recommend the best places and opportunities that you may find in Trinidad. ... more   less
