“Great place to stay!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2013

We stayed with Mariela and Lorenzo two nights and had a wonderful time. The hostel has a great location in this beautiful town, which also means it is a bit noisy at nights. We had a nice, clean room with an ok bed. The roof top terrace is a great place to get a view of the town and just sit and relax. We had some difficulties with language since we didn´t speak spanish and Mariela didn´t speak english, but we made it work and had some good laughs at times. One of our evenings we were lucky to enjoy Marielas cooking. I would definitely recommend this place to other travellers!

The clean and beautiful casa is located in the center of old Trinidad, so, you are in the hart of the city, but, it gets very noisy at nights!
The breakfast on the roof were exlent, and Mariela, the owner was very funny and helpfull in every mater. We stayed 3 nights and loved the city and beach!

Mariela and Lorenzo run a tight operation and were very helpful during our short stay in Trinidad. Although we didn't speak any Spanish and Mariela did not speak English, we did not have trouble communicating because Mariela is so patient and makes a great effort to make sure that we understand her. She handed us a map of Trinidad the minute we got there and helped us to arrange for transportation to and from Playa Ancon, and also back to Havana.

The rooms and bathroom are clean and comfortable - our bathrooms were cleaned daily and we got fresh towels. The downstairs bedroom is right on the street and gets a little noisy, but once we closed the windows and turned on the air-conditioning, it was okay. We could make use of the many common spaces in the house - be it reading in one of the rocking chairs in the living room or playing cards on the roof terrace.

Hostal Rintintin is located on a hill (hence great views) and on a main thoroughfare. Key attractions (Plaza Mayor, Club Ayala, etc) were less than a five minute walk away.

The best thing was the food! We can honestly say that the food at Rintintin was the best among all the casas we stayed at during our trip. We ate there on both nights during our stay. It was great to eat up on the roof terrace, with a great band to serenade you as you eat.

I would certainly recommend Hostal Rintintin to anyone who visits Trinidad!

Hi, I've been many times in this place.I've also travelling a lot with friends of mine through the island and I have to say that this is a place where we always come back. Mariela and Lorenzo are great and do the best for you to feel at home in Trinidad. Also Mariela is a great cook and the terrace is cool. There are some houses in Trinidad that I would never believe to stay, but this one and some other are really nice and trustful. When I come to Trinidad I go directly to this place.I know that if they don't have any vacant room they will just make some phone calls and everything will be arranged to sleep and eat. People that I had recommended this place from the Czech Republic have been also satisfied. Cheers for them.

We were recommended to Mariela and Lorenzo by a friend in Havana, and though we didn't stay there (already booked somewhere else) we peeked at the rooms and they looked lovely.

But we did eat there - twice - and had a really superb meals up on the roof terrace, watching the sunset over the bay. Fresh vegetables and fruit, freshly caught and cooked fish, delicious soup, the BEST coffee and such friendly service!

Though we had minimal Spanish and Mariela had minimal English we got on so well - these situations can sometimes be tiring but this was a pleasure! Even if you don't stay here, do go and eat - just give a few hours warning so that Mariela can shop!

Very highly recommended!

Brilliant casa particular! Although there was initially a small issue with the room size for four people Mariela did her best to resolve the issue and explain we had the rest of the house to live in. Mariela and Lorenzo are so welcoming and did their utmost to make our stay enjoyable. Mariela served food which was brilliant compared to anywhere else we ate in Cuba, at least there was a little more variety! There is a beautiful view from the top terrace area and it is very relaxing to chill out up there. The is 'Casa de la Musica' a 2 minute walk away with live music and dancing every night although it can get a bit repetitive if you go more than once.

By the plaza major you can book various trips to sites near Trinidad. Would recommend a trip to lakes/ waterfalls. We went to one totally secluded which took about an hour to walk to but was well worth it.

It helps if you can speak some Spanish. Would definitely recommend!

James

This summer was my second time to choose this casa in Trinidad as my home. I really feel that it is my home and that the owners treat us as family. The hosts brings the people who live there together in a way I have never seen in any other casa. But they also show professional distance when the guests want that.
This is not the last time I choose this casa as my home in Trinidad.
