“Ruth, Laird, and Randy: Wonderful place, wonderful people!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2013

We stayed for two nights in this casa and enjoyed the comfortable atmosphere and kindness of the owners. Jesús didn't speak much English, but we managed just fine. He seemed to anticipate our needs and made us feel right at home. We arrived mid-afternoon, so he took us around the corner and arranged for us to purchase pizzas for 1CUC. The food was excellent and abundant...we couldn't eat everything we were served at any meal. We loved the panoramic view from the upper balcony...we could see the mountains, the Valle de Los Ingenios, the Tower and roof-tops of the city. It was our favorite place to relax and have a beer and enjoy the shade the the Mango tree which grew up through the center of the house. The house was very old, and the habitation area, probably an addition to the courtyard, was quite charming, the rooms were clean and comfortable. We left late in the afternoon and were allowed to use our room till then. Jesús arranged for a man with a wheelbarrow to take our luggage to the bus station and accompanied us so we would get to the Viazul wicket and not be harrassed by the taxi drivers at the door. My only regret was that I didn't think to take a photo of 3 Canadains and 1 Cuban following the wheelbarrow down the cobblestone street! We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this casa to anyone.

Jesus's place is a big casa with 3 (I think) rooms that they rent out. It feels like a hotel-hostel-casa, as you are living in a family's house but have your own private room on the top floor, with access to 2 terraces that offer beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and the town, as well as relaxing times in the sun. Our room was exactly the size we needed, with an extra bed for a 3 guest \ child, had there been one.
Everything was clean and hot water was not a problem at all. Breakfast was nice too!

The casa is located ideally, just a few blocks from anything you would like to see in the historical part of Trinidad, which is beautiful, and still it was very quiet and peaceful at night.

Jesus, his wife and the ladies that work at the casa were all very nice and tried to help with whatever we needed and were very warm and welcoming. It was a pleasure to stay with them!

Jesus' and his family are wonderful and caring people. We had a group of 4 (all adults) The rooms are plenty big the bathrooms clean and plenty of hot water. I felt like I was sleeping up in the trees. Mango tree grows right up through the house and they have plenty of terraces to wander through. Close to the center of town. We were there during easter and what a great experience. Miss them.

This family is great ! The area is priceless , near to the Casco Historico( 1 block) they have many restaurants in the same neighborhood (yummy) but if you want they can prepare food for you at home, what is amazing . My daughter took a horse riding tour around the mountains and river and they left her in front of the hostal when she came back.
The owners where very nice and they have experience in the business , you can feel like if you are in a five star hotel!!*****
We had a wonderful time there can't wait to go back!

Jesus' place was sprawling and gorgeous! It was centrally located near Plaza Mejor and La Casa de Musica. Jesus and his wife are very friendly and welcoming.

Our room was small but worked well since we were only there to shower and sleep. The bathroom was decent but hot water was a bit sparse depending on when other guests took showers.

Jesus and his wife cooked us dinner our first night and it was by far one of the best meals we had on our entire trip. Standard Cuban fare with fresh fish, lobster, black beans, rice and fried plantains. The meal was enjoyed on the roof top terrace looking out to the mountains nearby with music throughout the town permeating through the air - AMAZING!

A centrally located beautiful colonial house with many rooms & terraces with superb views.
The big terrace is a great place to dine or relax with a drink and enjoy the views of the town, countryside/mountains and the picturesque bell tower.

Rooms are clean, simply adequate and comfortable.

Breakfast was good and plentiful and evening dinner was very good, Jesus is a grand chef; the homemade milk flan was exquisite, not something I would usually eat but I have craved for ever since, so much so I am going to attempt to make one !!!

Hospitality was warm and welcoming, its a lovely place to stay, food is good with a grand terrace to dine "al fresco" so you have everything you could want under one roof.

Jesus and his casa is an excellent choice when staying in Trinidad.
We were there 3 days and stayed in 3 of his rooms. The casa is really a colonial one. It has a patio with a big mango tree in the middle. The red room that I got was really excellent.
The casa is in perfect location walking distance from the city center, las escalinatas and everything else. Not that Trinidad is that big but some casas may be in the outer neighbourhoods.

A highlight if you manage to stay with Jesus is to ask him for cooking a big fish in the carbon grill he has for dinner. Jesus is an excellent cook and anything he will cook for you will be fantastic, but the fish was delightful.

Jesus and his wife were very helpful and friendly with us, his house has most of the guest rooms on the frist floor. The mango will drop some of its fruits in the night and can be a bit scary but its also part of the charm of the place. On the top floor there is a terrace where to sit and double check the pictures and plan the next day.

Very recommendable.

Room Tip: The Red room is a good choice!
