“Don't Bother”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2013

The walk to the area is long, the place is not very tidy, and not much to see. We did not do the tunnel tour so I cannot comment on that aspect of the experience.

“Unusual and a bit scary!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2013

It's a good walk to get there from the end of the public road, but persevere- It is manned by volunteers and is in danger of closing. Not for the claustrophobic.

“Great walk”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2013

A good walk, and you can go through the tunnels and have a look at the little shed where there are mementoes and old newspapers etc. Look out for the sheep who wants to come in and lie by the potbelly stove.

“The kids loved it!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 10, 2013

What a great experience to be in the tunnels and enjoying NZ history close up and personal. The tunnels are well maintained and lots of fun to explore with the kids whilst getting a sense of what living in war time was like. We would love to see this attraction expanded with more walks and stories of interest. Great day out for all

“Dangerous and poorly supervised!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2013

I'm not sure if our experience was normal, but we had no map and got very lost in the dark and wet tunnels which go on for seemingly miles! There are no exit signs whatsoever or indications about which direction to go in. And it's not very interesting underground anyway- better to just walk to the entrance and go in the eccentric museum.
