We stayed in the Strand Apartments - so comments apply to these only!

The apartments are on two floors, with the living areas on top so that you get a good view towards the beach (which is one minute away). In the two bed place,one bedroom has an en-suite bathroom, the second a bathroom adjacent.

Kitchen equipment is sparse, but everything high quality, there's even a washing machine. Breakfast can be delivered.

They operate a "no tolerance policy" for noisy guests - who can be fined if they make too much racket!

The local bus does operate regularly, but best to have a car.

Waiheke is a wonderful location!

Apartments not what we expected - very basic & a bit dated but a super location at beautiful Onetangi Beach...only slept at the apartment but spent long days driving around Waiheke Island, lounging on the beaches & sampling the fantastic restaurants! Everything here was relaxed & laid back - staff, locals, fellow travellers! We stayed for five nights & found it to be just enough time to wind down & see most of the island too! May have been a little bored if we had stayed longer.

I recently stayed for 3 nights at the Onetangi Beachfront Apartments on the Strand. I wish I had stayed for longer as it was the best bit of our NZ trip. Aucklanders I think keep Waiheke Island a secret so they can enjoy it for themselves. It’s 20 mins boat ride from downtown Auckland but is even closer to paradise. The apartment is situated right on the biggest beach on the island with beautiful sand, and has hardly anyone on it. The standard accommodation was first class, a real home from home. We had planned on eating out at the island many restaurants but the place was so well equipped we end up cooking on the BBQ and eating outside on one of the two terrace listening to the ocean… magic A great place to recover from jet lag or spend a week, we will be going back!

My husband and I went to Onetangi Beach Apartments for a last minute get away. We didn't have a car and I think this may well have been a problem if we weren't so close to the public bus route, an excellent cafe and pub up the road and the availability of rental cars at the apartments. The rooms were beautiful and although not advertised as such we even had a sea view! The staff were really friendly and gave us some good ideas of were to go. As you can tell we had a fantastic time, to the point I decided I would write this when I got back.
