“Excellent view but room a bit worn”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2011

We went over to Waiheke for a weekend and stayed at the resort. We were in villa 11 right at the top of the site so we had spectacular views. The room (1 bed villa) was quite roomy with a large deck.

Inside the villa was starting to look a bit worn with cracked floor tiles and some peeling paint in a few place, but quite well equipped.

Pool area was good and service was friendly. Reception is not 24 hour though and the bar was closed when we got back from dinner at about 11pm.

Overall OK for the price but would probably not stay here again given a choice.

Room Tip: The higher you are the better the view

We stayed in a one bedroom villa. It was very spacious and clean. Good service - manager was kind and friendly. Would recommend for those traveling with family and require space. Comes with a mini kitchen and oven. There are no shampoo/shower gels in the bathroom so bring your own.

I had a training at this location and I was a bit disappointed about the absence of nice shampoo and body lotion etc. But the location, the helpful staff (they brought me my lpad to the ferry terminal in time after I accidently left it behind), great lunch and dinner not speaking about fresh fruits in the breaks and tempting cakes made it all up for me!!! Only room for improvement is the very average breakfast!
Thanks again for bringing my iPad!!

I recently stayed at the Waiheke Island Resort in their '2 Bedroom Villa''. The apartment was spacious, loved the huge deck and the Ocean view from there. We were told that there would be a microwave in the apartment , so we got all microwaveable food items, but on checkin we realised that there was an oven and not a microwave, but what i liked was, that inspite of the reception being closed, we were attended to promptly and were provided a microwave . However there were a few things that could improve, the quality of Bathroom for instance, for the price we paid, we expected better quality bathroom. One of the towels was stained with bright orange spots, the hairdryer did not work, the shower handle was broken. The beds were not comfortable, did not sleep too well because of this. But i think the staff is great...

Me and my partner stayed 2 nights, the appartment was great- clean, neat, and fully equiped. We only stayed two nights.. and were impressed that they came and cleaned our room after the second morning for us. The staff were very friendly (we met the manager who was lovely) and we really loved one of the staff members who gave advice on where to go and cooked us a full breakfast which was very yum! We asked a cleaner to help us jumpstart out dead motorbike the first morning- so she left her van with us, and the next morning she had parked her van next to our bike and left it for us to use again- that was a gesture beyond what is expected of hotel staff and we thought this was very lovely.
Dissapointed to see such bad reviews- as me and my partner are planning on visiting again beacuse it was so great! :)

The first room we were provided was damp and had mildew covering the windows. The style was 'cheap motel' 1970's. Went back to reception and asked for another room. Receptionist seemed less than concerned but did provide an alternative. This time the room was more up to date but no-where near the quality expected for the tarrif being paid. The bathroom shower had black mold around the door and tiles, the towels were small (suitable for small child) and the water pressure would gave been stronger if we'd stood under a half blocked watering can! The condition of the bathroom fittings and walls was appalling.

Breakfast: All included in the price, powdered egg scrambled eggs, baked beans, and bacon dripping in fat. This place really is stuck in a time warp! Coffee was instant coffee!

For $240 per night! You have to be kidding!!

I found the climb from our room too steep. I would ask for a more level one next time, with bedside tables please! Not enough space in the shower room but the rest of the unit was very good.
The swimming pool and seating around it was very clean and pleasant. Palm Beach area is just lovely with a safe friendly beach.
Food at the resort was OK and the butter chicken was very good. Views from the dining room, superb.
Sharon met us with a handshake and beautiful smile . The rest of the staff very pleasant too.
