“Perfection with a view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2013

This small hotel is a 35minute ferry ride from Auckland and the owner will pick you up and take you the last part of the journey. Perched on a hill the hotel has truly spectacular views over the bay and out to the ocean. It is the type of scenery that cannot be properly reflected in a picture - the term breathtaking come closest! I was upgraded to a suite with a separate bedroom and living room/kitchen a with an adjoining modern bathroom, equipped with a shower and washing machine. The decor is light and bright and everything was comfortable and spotlessly clean. This was a corner location so the views were panoramic from the living room and the glass-walled balcony. A wholesome delicious breakfast is provided and the owner, Andy, goes out of his way to make your stay memorable. He knows the island well and can provide you with great advice on what to do and where to dine. The hotel will provide light meals on request at a very reasonable charge. The lovely gardens contain a hot tub if you want to complete an idyllic stay. I have traveled widely and can honestly say that this lovely location and it friendly owners will provide you with a stay to remember long after you leave. It was an unforgettable way to spend a birthday.

Room Tip: All rooms have great views.

Having stayed at a bunch of high-end B&Bs during our 2.5 week honeymoon in New Zealand, we can honestly say that Enclosure Bay was among the best, if not the very best. The views from our balcony (where we had breakfast served one day) were absolutely stunning. Andy was the perfect host: he was more than happy to provide transportation to some activities, had very helpful recommendations (including for a scenic flight around the island), and had an overall effervescent personality that was a delight to be around. The house is chic and modern, but also very comfortable, featuring an outdoor hot tub and an extensive DVD selection (including the entire James Bond series ) available to borrow. We were sad to leave Enclosure Bay and beautiful Waiheke Island, but have the great memory of our time there.

We loved our 2 nights here. The accomodation is great with attention to detail and wonderful views but the best thing is the personal touch from Andy and Jenny - from suggesting the best places to eat to loaning us a car for day and even driving us to get takeaway for dinner as the local pizza place had closed for night. We didn't want to leave their little piece of paradise.

We stayed here over the Easter weekend 2013. We were warmly welcomed by Andy when we arrived and it made us feel right at home. The Waiheke room was wonderful - spacious, comfortable and an awesome view. Breakfast each morning was lovely and we appreciated nice touches such as Easter eggs and homemade hot cross buns. Andy offered good advice about what do to on the island and was very friendly. A great place to stay - very relaxing - and we will be back! Highly recommended.

This place is absolutely where you want to stay if you are visiting the Auckland area. It is a short ferry ride (30 min) from Auckland, but a world away from feeling like a city. If you are looking fora few days to go wine tasting and lie on beaches, this is a great spot. A few things about the actual accomodation:
- there are only 3 rooms, so book quickly! They fill up.
-through it is 3 rooms in a house, you should know that it is more like 3 rooms in a mega-mansion! You will not ever have to interact with the other guests, if you don't want to. I point this out because I myself am not a fan of B&B's where I feel cramped in with other strangers.
-the owners are amazing people. They will go out of their way to help you if you need, and will leave you alone if you prefer.
- there is no 'bad' room to stay in. I saw all three. They all have an amazing water view, nice beds, good linens and pretty bathrooms. If ou can afford to, stay in the biggest room:)
-there is a hot tub- use it! Nothing like staring at an ocean with a glass of wine in your hands while sitting in a hot tub
-do let the owner book you a wine tour.they people they use are knowledgable, classy and will take you to better places than what you can find on your own. You also get better tastings than what you get if you walk in on your own.

Long story short-staying here was an amazing experience!

We choose Enclosure Bay as our final stop on our three week trip including a 14 day cruise from Sydney to Auckland. We were exhausted arriving at the hotel. Andy picked us up from the ferry area, brought us back to our room and from there just cared for us as if we were family. He ensured we had choices about what to eat and where to eat. He booked a tour for us the following day that included some wine and olive oil tasting. All in all, being at Enclosure Bay for the short time we were there was rejuvenating to our souls. There is nothing like the views and I have never received service like that ever.

When I get the chance to return to the Auckland area in the future I will be booking more nights at this wonderful hotel. Andy, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We are so so grateful for your hospitality!

We enjoyed amazing views of the island from our room. Andy suggested some perfect places for delicious food and wine experiences. Having a car helped us explore the whole island. A very laid back place to spend a long weekend.
