“Lovely view and location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2012

This is a great motel. Everything was clean and the owner offered to bring my bags to the train during the afternoon so I didn't have to worry about going back and carrying them to the station. Very helpful and welcoming.

Had an enjoyable one night stay here before our ferry ride. Parking the car was a bit awkward uphill (and had to turn around on the neighbors property) but the owner helped us. The view was indeed great and nice balcony and garden at the back of the room. The room itself was huge with lots of empty space, two beds and a sleeper couch. Nice TV and the heater worked very well. Only thing was that the shower in the bathroom was very weak (no water pressure).

However, I expected more for the price we paid. We booked directly at the motel and paid NZD 170 (two adults and one young child), relatively expensive compared to our other motels and hotels on the south island and especially the other motels and hotels in Picton (note that we overlooked the Beachcomber and Mercure hotel in Picton, which are even closer to the harbour and have similar views but were NZD 20-30 cheaper for the same night).

We stayed at the Harbour View Motel in January 2012 and paid a little extra for the harbour view rooms and it was well worth it. The rooms are at the top of the complex and with the great balcony and views, it's the perfect place for some NZ cheese and wine to watch the boats come in.

The room was spacious with a well-equipped kitchenette, living area, balcony, big bathroom and a comfortable bed. The rooms are absolutely spotless! The hotel is also well located to walk to the many fantastic restaurants, is an easy walk to the adventure centre and the ferry terminal.

For comfort, the views and value for money, there isn't much better and we'd definitely return to the Harbour View Motel.

We stayed here after a long, tumultuous ferry ride from Wellington. the innkeeper was very helpful with getting us settled and even called a local restaurant and asked them if they would stay open for us, which they did. Nice accommodations with large room with views of the harbor (thus they are appropriately named) and comfortable beds

We spent two nights here in April and will definitely come back again. The owners are so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The room is comfortable and well equipped, as is the bathroom. We loved the balcony and harbour views, parking was easy and close to our room (no hauling heavy suticases up flights of stairs). We did not use our car until we had to leave, the town and harbour are within easy walking distance.
No hesitation in recommending Harbour View.

Fantastic location right on the water with great views from your balcony of the boats in the marina, and sit and watch the ferries come in. 5 star rooms, large modern room with comfy bed, table and chairs, and lounge. Bathroom was really lovely, and lovely linen. Heated towel rails and heater in the lounge, makes it very cosy. Great kitchen with all that you need. Less than 5 min walk to the shops and waterfront, location cannot be more perfect. We stayed 3 nights and just enjoyed every minute. Would definitely recommend.

Room Tip: all rooms have balcony, we stayed at the top level, which made the views even more spectacular.
