“Very Pretty”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2013

It was a nice day for a boat trip and very pretty scenery. What I love about the South Island is the nature and how pristine the island is. Would like to go back and do the walk. Actually visited November 2011.

“Better Than Expected!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2013

Did the mail run on a very wet afternoon, and Matt our driver was really informative. Queen Charlotte Sound is so beautiful even on a grey day, the water was a beautiful green colour in the coves. Really enjoyed it!!!!

“Wonderfully scenic winding drive”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2013

We picked a perfect day for our drive between Havelock and Picton in Feb 2013 (between Okiwa Bay and Picton). Drives around Queen Charlotte Sound (we just did the first bit) are very winding, and you can't hurry it, but I don't think you'd want to. Better to allow a good few hours and meander along, stopping to admire the views. We stopped several times: at Cullen Point Lookout, soon after which we pulled off the road to look at a field full of white-faced herons, and then Governor's Bay Scenic Reserve where we went down to the beach and then spent half an hour photographing the myriad of cicadas providing the soundtrack to the view, as well as some California quails. Once we made it to Picton, we grabbed some fish and chips and then sat by the water eating them. There was a swarm of red squat lobsters in the water and a sting ray passed by right next to the quayside. Lots of little fish were shoaling round the shallow water too. An incredibly beautiful and photogenic area, full of wildlife. Wish we'd managed a boat ride. Highly recommended.
