Margaret is a New Zealander who did her chef training in London. What a cook!!! No cans are allowed in Kippilaw House; all the chutneys, sauces, jams and cakes are all home made. Breakfasts started w fruit parfait (her garden fruit), interesting omelettes and sausages ... all freshly made to your order. Good coffee and proper tea served in silver teapot.
Bedroom, ensuite and snack area all spotless and comfortable, w fresh flowers in room. We had our own garden spot opening from french doors.
Great advice on excursions, and when she heard we were doing a day tour and hike, she arranged the booking, provided us a mighty packed lunch of freshly made lunch (for which she didn't charge us). Told us the best spots to go for a sundowner drink.
On Good Friday we dined in, and she gave us a choice of entrees and main. HUUUUGE servings, everything cooked perfectly, and a nice NZ bottle of wine.
A very kind person, she made us feel comfortable having a bottle of our wine in front of TV in the guest lounge, her pooches were a great substitute for my dogs. I think she helps a lot of the local people who are going through hard times, by letting them sublease part of her wildly successful farmers market stall on the weekends in Picton and Blenheim. Her husband Bill is equally kind and thoughtful and it's places like Kippilaw House that make NZ tourism so good.
