We spent 3 lovely nights in total with Margaret and Bill before and after doing the magnificent Queen Charlotte Walk. To describe them as generous hosts is an understatment. Exhausted on our first night after doing planes and ferries from Melbourne via Wellington, Margaret whipped us up "a little something" as we were not feeling up to going out for a meal. A little something turned out to be an excellent restaurant quality meal - when all we expected was a toasted sandwich - and we didn't eat better at any other restaurants during our two weeks in NZ.
Our room was huge, very comfy bed, massive ensuite, loads of fluffy towels. Breakfast was another gourmet treat - home made everything and in quantities that made lunch redundant!
After 75km on the QC track, knowing we were coming back to Kippilaw House was a great feeling, and one our fellow walkers were quite envious of, as we dropped them back to their soulless motels.
If the B &B experience is about meeting passionate local people, tasting local produce and feeling every bit as comfortable as home, then we thoroughly recommend you book a stay here. And by the way Margaret, your date scones were the stuff of legend!
All the best from Neil & Marion
