“Great half day wine tour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2013

We did the wine tour as part of a package deal with Interislander ferries and had a great half day tour.

The afternoon got off to a great start as our driver picked us up from the I-Site (thanks to the friendly staff there calling them) rather than us trying to find where they were as there didn’t seem to be any sort of taxi’s in Picton to take us to their offices.

There were 5 of us doing the tour that day so had plenty of room in the van. Getting in/out was a bit tricky due to a metal bar being across the side of the seat beside the door meaning you had to be a bit like Houdini to clamber over it to get in/out.

We went to four wineries (Adam Scott, Drylands, Giesen and Seresin) and even managed to squeeze in a visit to the very overpriced chocolate factory before we were returned to the ferry terminal in time for our ferry back to Wellington.

“Ok but could have been better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2013

We took a half day tour of some of Marlborough's wineries, which meant we visited 4 wineries. Two of them were good and two of them were a little weak.

Having said that, you need to decide what you want from a wine tour. Do you want great wines? or great educational tastings? The two do not always coincide.

The two wineries we thought had the best wines were Framinghams and Cloudy Bay. However, the information was not so good at these sites - especially CB, as they are just too busy. Framinghams also gave immensely tight measures - hardly a sip, of each wine.

The other two, Selaks and another I can't remember. The info was better, but the wines were average.

In hindsight, I wish we had have specified what wineries we wanted to go to.

The only other problem was that the driver, who I think was English, drove absurdly fast, which is uncomfortabel when you are being thrown around in the back of a van.

“A great day out”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2013

We completed the half day wine tour during our stay in Picton.

Don, our guide, was excellent. He collected us from our hotel and provided us with a friendly and informative guide throughout the tour, providing interesting insight as we moved between vineyards.

We visited four vineyards and the local chocolate factory - all of which were excellent. We had specifically requested to visit the Cloudy Bay vineyard in advance and this was included in our tour.

Overall a great trip out.

“The best day!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2013

My husband and I did the full day wine tour and absolutely loved it. We joined three other couples for the day-they pick you up at your hotel. Our driver for the day was Don and he was excellent. All of the wines he recommended while we travelled ended up being our favorites as well. He was friendly and accomodating. We loved the wineries he selected and the lunch stop was great. The wineries, wine, and scenery were fantastic. This was probably one of the favorite days we spent in New Zealand. Finally, the service was really over the top when my husband and I realized we'd left some olive oil on the bus. They brough it all the way back to our hotel for us! We were truly impressed and thankful. I would highly recommend this serivce if you are considering a wine tour in the Marlborough region.
