“No-brainer option in Picton”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013

Stayed here for only 1 night before crossing by ferry back to Wellington next day. It's an easy 5-7min walk to the main Picton attractions. They offer free pick up/drop off service and wireless internet, which was great. As a proper bnb the fare includes a very nice continental breakfast as well. I booked it through wotif, so could pay it by card without issues. Sharon was looking into maybe getting card payments soon. Room was spotless with a very comfy bed. I highly recommend it for a night stay whenever in Picton. They are also able to hold some of your belongings if you are going to the Queen Charlotte for a few days. In our case we went for a dolphin swimming trip (no dolphins unfortunately) next day before the afternoon ferry and Sharon let us leave our bags there after we checked out; later when we picked them up Russel was kind to drop us off at the ferry terminal. Very friendly and helpful hosts, tks guys!! You are first on our list next time in Picton.
P.S. if you're keen on a seafood feast try the seafood platter ($88 for 2) at the Cortado Cafe.

Thanks also for the Seafood Platter reccommendation i haven't tried it so will give it ago when things quieten down here.
Sorry you didn't get to swim with the dolphins but so glad you enjoyed your morning in the sounds.
Have a good time in NZ.

Only a short stroll to all of Pictons main attractions. This is a wonderful bnb with all home comforts. Russell & Sharon are hard working and kind, offering pick ups and lots of info on the local area. Loved the breakfast, thank you. Hope to return soon. Karl & Gaye

Stayed one night here before heading off for a 5 day walk along the Queen Charlotte Track together with my partner and my parents. This place is AWESOME! Very nice and welcoming rooms with very comfortable beds, great breakfast and our hosts Sharon and Russell were very friendly, helpful and accommodating. Would love to stay here again. Highly recommended!

The hosts, Sharon and Russell, picked us up at the bus station. Sharon did our (large and very stinky) load of laundry when we returned from a 12-day kayaking adventure. Before the adventure, they helped with last-minute supplies and weather reports. The house itself is super clean and very comfortable, and we especially enjoyed sitting outside (there are tables on both front and back porches) in the gardens. Breakfasts were very good, including fresh strawberries from the garden.

After 3 days on the Queen Charlotte Sound, hiking, biking and kayaking, we were pretty dirty and tired, but Sharon at Echo Lodge was a most obliging host with a friendly afternoon tea waiting for us. We had very comfortable rooms and were grateful for the use of a washing machine and clothes line. We also appreciated being able to leave our rental car there for the 3 days we were out on the track. Breakfast was great too. Thanks for a lovely stay. The New Years Eve fireworks on the foreshore were a bonus.

Thank you for your review it means a lot to us.
I feel exhaused just reading what you did on the track and the sounds, a great achievement as you know it is not a walk in the park kind of track.

Thank you for staying with us it was a pleasure to have you in our home.

Kind Regards
Sharon

This was a last minute booking on Wotif and you take what you get. What we got was a beautifully restored home with outstanding hosts and an exceptionally clean and comfortable room.

Everything we could have needed was anticipated and Sharon made us feel like we were staying with relatives.

I'll definitely stay here again if overnighting in Picton.

Thanks Guys!

This B & B rates as one of the best we have stayed at. From the time they picked us up from the bus until the time we left the region the hosts, Sharon & Russell, were extremely willing to assist in any area they could. The house has been tastefully restored and the bedrooms are large with ensuite. A high level of cleanliness is apparent in all areas. Their excellent breakfast provides everything needed to start the day well. Situated about three minutes from the centre of Picton. This is the perfect spot if you are staying in Picton. Compared to other B&B's we have stayed at Echo Lodge is exceptional value for money. Thanks so much Sharon for your delicious Christmas cake.

Room Tip: All rooms are of similar quality.
