Description: Oxley's Rock Hotel is the only classic Hotel left in the CBD of Picton. Shane, Jenny and the team would like to welcome you to the Voyager Seafood Restaurant at Oxley’s on the Quay. It is our aim to provide you with the freshest product available; because of this sometimes some of our dishes will be unavailable due to supply and demand. As you probably noticed from the exterior, the building you looking at dates back long before its modern interior. Originally constructed in 1849 by William Pugh, who wasn’t a publican but a local banker, but who knew a good opportunity when he saw one, offering travellers from the ferry a place to replenish their thirst after the short crossing. This historic building became Oxley’s for the first time in 1899 when Mr Oxley bought a then run-down pub and transformed it into the civic landmark it is today. Mr Oxley was a businessman and not a civic decorator but, by investing in a classic style, he knew he could create a landmark that would secure the value of his investment for many years to come.In recent years there were plans to completely flatten the building to make way for apartments, but fortunately, due to the facade being registered with the New Zealand Historic Places Trust, this did not happen and the apartments were built around the original façade. At the same time the then tired Oxley’s pub was completely transformed to the Restaurant and bar it is today. Our mission as the current custodians of this great pub is to once again make it the meeting place of Picton locals and visitors. We are hoping to do this by providing great service and a menu that has a wide range of seafood, the best seafood chowder, great burgers, delicious homemade pizzas, great kids meals and boasts the best steaks that Picton has to offer! We also have a pool table and jukebox for those after work chill outs. Our big area means we are more than capable of catering to group bookings, please call to discuss your options.

“Good food & location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2013

We both enjoyed our meal. Food, service & ambience are good. Quiet when we ate after the mailboat run - which suits us. Convenient location. No hesitation in recommending it.

Our first night in Picton, we discovered Oxley's. We ate outside, and enjoyed seafood chowder and seafood pizza. Good food and cheerful service!

“good atmosphere and location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2013

I found the Oxley to be a nice spot on a weekday as it is very quiet after the tourist buses go home. Sit by the open windows ans you can watch the world go by as you drink their reasonably priced tap beer and decent food.
