“Great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2013

Good food, great service. Very relaxing way to spend time in Akaroa having a meal and drink. The location is directly opposite the Wharf and they have big outdoor heaters for the people who cant bear to miss the view.

“We have a new favourite place to eat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2013

We quite often visit Akaroa for a few days for a quick break, and always eat at our favourite place, (as you do) but this time decided to broaden our horizon so to speak and try something different. So in we went, and were delighted with our experience with food and staff. L'Hotel has wonderful eating areas, either inside, outside under cover which is heated for winter, or outside under umbrellas for those lazy sunny days. Perfect! So, we started with a mini garlic loaf, best in town! Then we both had the lamb shank. Wow! one big one a bed of mash with a lovely jus. Fantastic! Next was dessert, sticky date pudding and fruit tart, which I can't quite remember the official name for sorry. Soooo good. You will love this, sitting back looking out to the bay, visitors strolling by feeling so relaxed. Just go there! :)

“Sums up Akaroa perfectly....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2013

We enjoyed an amazing 2 tier fish cheese and meat platter. The presentation was amazing and there was plenty variety. ....we couldn't finish it. We finished with the afoggato.. delicious.
The atmosphere was good, music, plenty of people and a great setting overlooking the water.
One little point. ... we arrived at 5.30 and the temp dropped quickly. It was pretty chilly even inside. Noticed people were keeping their jackets on. A littke more heating would be good or supply blankets... the new quirky snd acceptable thing to do. We didn't complain but sure they would have accommodated us if we had. But will definately return. A great evening out!!!

“Unexpected delights”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2013

It's off peak, and we were surprised that any restaurant was open for business in lovely Akaroa.
We were treated to pan fried groper on Thai-slaw....yum.... And I had Choriso in penne to die for.
We only had main courses and a gorgeous bottle of Tiki Sauvignon Blanc. We'll be having more of that when we get to the Marlborough area up north. Oh, and a lovely big open fire crackling away to make us feel at home.
