Great location, gorgeous setting, thought we were in Italy! The manager Marie is lovely & very helpful. Its the little things; the organic yoghurt, fresh orange juice, two slices of chocolate cake waiting for us & great muesli for breakfast, not to mention you then had the vouchers to go across the road for your breakfast which was really nice in a cute eccentric cafe. We would love to go back there next time we visit.

We stayed here for 2 nights at the end of March. We met a friend at the B&B who had been upgraded to the other larger top floor room with a balcony overlooking the courtyard. Although nice for her, it was a bit of a blow to us as we'd been relying on using the washing machine in her room as we'd been on the road a while. However, this wasn't a problem as Marie, the excellent receptionist, offered to do the laundry for us in her own machine, which she duly did.

As other people have said, the rooms are lovely with large comfortable beds. Cakes are provided and changed daily plus there was a lovely bowl of rock which took me out back to my childhood. This was changed to chocolates the next night. We had the top floor back room which was a bit snug for two but had the larger bathroom. This had some glass floor tiles which meant that it was very light our first night as the people downstairs didn't switch their bathroom light off all night, but we just shut the bathroom door to keep the light oiut of the bedroom. Just a note of warning about the B&B - there are steep narrow stairs up to the rooms plus steep stairs to even get to the reception. It's quite an effort to get to the rooms if you have heavy bags.

As other people have also said, you get a free voucher for breakfast over the road at Fidel's, which is excellent.

Location-wise, this B&B is in a great situation. There are masses of good restaurants and bars very close by. You're also close to the harbour to get the ferry to Rottnest Island or visit the excellent maritime museum (about 15 minutes walk max.) plus the prison and the other Fremantle sights.

I can see that parking might be an issue. There are parking bays in the street outside, but it's for a limited time and quite expensive. Marie recommended a car-park just down the road which was $6.50 a day and I think could be paid by a card, but I'm not certain. Anyway, we though it was very reasonable and convenient and it was easy enough to pick up and drop off bags at the B&B.

Unless you have an aversion to steep stairs, then I would highly recommned this place to stay.

Room Tip: Choose a room overlooking the front courtyard for the nicer views

The best B&B ever!
Geat location; amazing service, cozy rooms.

The breakfast is served at a nice cafe across the street.

Fremantle is the best area to stay if visiting Perth. And this B&B is really really highly recommended. More than any other hotel in the area. No doubt!

Marie, as reponsible of the local, is an amaizing woman who helps you on anything you may need. She is so nice!

Es muchisimo mejor que cualquier gran hotel, es precioso, la casa/edificio (antiguo molino) es muy bonito. La localizacion simplemente perfecta. Lo recomiendo de verdad!

Gracas por todo!! Thank sooo much! It was a pleasure.

After a few days work in Perth, I took a four day break in Freemantle. The Port Mill is perfect for a few days away. It is well-located - close to most of the attractions such as the week-end market, the museums and the beach. My room was clean and comfortable and I appreciated the snacks in the room and the breakfast across the street. Marie was a great host - she provided friendly service and excellent recommendations. Next time I visit Perth, I will bring my wife - she'll love the place.

When I came to Fremantle for a week to visit my daughter, I chose to stay at the Port Mill because its location is just perfect - hidden away in the cosy courtyard it was quiet and relaxing to have a coffee on the balcony of my room. Yet it is only few steps away from the main street ( "Cappucino Strip"), Fremantle Markets and Esplanade.
The markets are only open on the weekend and suddenly quiet Fremantle becomes a bubbly attraction for people of all ages with lots of entertainment, great food and a huge varety of bars and restaurants.
The "Whisper Wine Bar" just next door has excellent baguettes and wine of course, but is also only open on weekends.

I loved the breakfast at Fidel`s which is complimentary as well as a generously stocked fridge. In the morning I enjoyed fresh ground coffee provided in the reception and some cake, or musli with joghurt which the lady of the house Marie restocks daily as well as juice, milk, cereal and musli bars. Then I could enjoy the day and go for a hearty brunch to "Fidel" - their kitchen is open until 3 pm spoiling you to anything you chose from their breakfast menu ( amazing pancakes!)

Marie was looking after me every day of my stay, making sure I dont`t miss out on all the beautiful places to see around Freo. Thanks for the lovely memories Port Mill

Great room and atmosphere
As with oth reviews-Maria was lovely and friendly
But photos somewhat deceptive as it is right beside a wine bar that is very noisy and in addition the set up in a cul de sac means that every drunken youth shouting in the street echoes very loudly

Did not sleep all night
So won't be staying there again

I had a coupkle of meetings in the Perth region, but due to very high pricing of hotels in Perth I ended up at the much more reasonably priced Port Mill B&B. Next time I will not even look for a hotel in Perth, but try for this B&B straight away.
Service of Marie and the other staff is much more personal than a hotel. Staff is not around all the time, but can be reached by phone if necessary. Small fridge in room is stocked with some juice and yoghurt and every day cake or muffins are on the table. And this is included in the service, whereas a hotel would charge you for that.
A very complete breakfast with very good coffee is included and served in Fidel's Cafe across the street. Plenty of restaurants and bars around the corner, so what do you need a hotel bar/restaurant for? The beach can be reached by a 30-minute walk, but the free bus is also available.
Doing business can be very relaxing!

Room Tip: I stayed in the Leeuwin Room on 2nd floor with private balcony, so in the afternoon I could enjoy th...
