“Hooray, cool Freo venue, enjoyable & welcoming”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2013

Loved Bread in Common, despite it being pretty hip, we still felt comfortable turning up middle aged & ragged & very un-hip in our housework clothes on a Sunday evening, due to the wonderfully friendly fellow at the door & exceptional waitress. The dim lighting helped us feel less conspicuous.
You share a length of long refactory tables with whomever. Although tapas like, the dishes were huge & really interesting. The place was buzzing, the kitchen is open adding to the air of enthusiastic activity. Only criticism of the menu we chose from, was that there werent healthy salad options, which some of us unfortunately require!
But the place makes you feel that Freo has really come of age. You gotta go!

“Nice breaky, but..”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2013

Went on the recommendation of a local. Great location and an Amazon decor and set up. Arrived not long after opening time for breakfast, not a very clear menu; more a brunch lunch combo. Luckily I had a nice waitress (one of a few, it seemed a bit scattered as to who was looking after what table) that helped out. AMAZING fruit loaf, Luke warm coffee, fun atmosphere. Meant to meet friends for dinner later in the week... Apprehensive..

“Great service cool concept”

Really enjoyed lunch at this cool venue. Menu and wine list was interesting, staff attentive (so unusual for WA) ...not cheap, but where is?

“Just left of very good”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2013

This is hard. Our Western Australian restaurant guru Rob Broadfield -- whose weekly restaurant column in the West's weekend magazine adds a delicious frisson to Saturday breakfast -- rated it so highly I thought it just the place to take my two adult children for a special lunch. And it was special, just being with them, but perhaps Rob's unusually generous score lifted my expectations of this restaurant a notch too high. On the plus side, we all three loved the venue -- funky and very 'today' it is -- the service was enthusiastic, the three plates we shared -- pork belly, lamb ribs and a mozzarella/tomato dish -- the heavenly side of tasty. So all good so far. The not-so-goods were an extremely noisy venue, impossible to hold a conversation without shouting, and very mean -- I would go so far as to say inadequate --servings. Three small segments of pork belly and three caramellised rib bones were tasty, yes, but barely a couple of mouthfuls each. The mozzarella/tomato/basil dish -- more liked a pared-down summer salad than a caprese -- was more fulsome. The waitress had suggested that three plates may not be enough, for three -- and she was right, it was more of an appetiser. But for between $16 - $18 each plate, it should have been somewhat more. The two desserts chosen -- icecream with banana, icecream with frozen berries -- looked and tasted delicious, coffee was great. Three small portions, two sweets, three coffees brought the cost of this lunch close to $120, even at Perth prices, expensive. Can't rave about this place but definitely worth experiencing -- when you go, encourage them to be a little more generous with servings or a tad less heavy-handed with pricing...

“Great new find”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2013

Nearly didn't go in because of the queue but decided to wait as fairly big place. Only waited about 20 minutes. Great food, service, music and would go there again. Good for large groups mostly sharing plates, and large tables. They don't seem to seat you in turn which was a bit odd but we were seated fairly quickly.
