“Excellent location.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed today NEW

This hotel is in a great location in Fremantle, but the rooms are dated, the carpet in the halls and rooms is long overdue for replacement.
We didn't spend much time in our room or eat or drink in the restaurant or bar as there were too many good options within walking distance of the hotel.
I would stay here again, simply for the hotel's proximity to all of the restaurants and bars in Fremantle.

Just like any average hotel room and seemed expensive for what it was. We had a ground floor room at the back of the hotel and had lots of street noise (mostly pedestrian). It was very frustrating that we had to walk all the way to the front of the hotel to get to the street, as we would then have to walk past our room on the street to get to the shops. They were quick to organise extra towels and pillow when requested even though housekeeping had already gone home. Valet parking was good but there was a massive queue to retrieve the car an hour before checkout.

Room Tip: Ground floor was noisy.

Stayed 2 nights after receiving a great promotional rate with breakfast included. The casual areas are very interesting with great service. Dinner buffet-style was also good value with quite wide selection, although most of the seafood was chilled, and reasonable wine prices. The room was large enough and well equipped with a pillow menu so everyone can sleep comfortably. Situated in a fantastic location opposite park, and close to restaurants of which there are many in Fremantle. Took the free CAT bus around the city which stopped at most major tourist spots. Plenty of atmosphere in and around the main markets and down the capuccino strip even during the day (weekend). View from the small balcony was only of tin roof below and cranes in the distance. Great for a short break. The only glitch was on checkout when it took a long time to have our car returned. Perhaps more staff at busy checkout times would help.

Room Tip: An upgrade can give you a slightly bigger bed. The east side above Norfolk St is noisy when sitting...

Sometimes this hotel can be extremely over-priced, but we got a reasonable rate for our one night stay in May 2014. The room was tidy and clean. Bed was very comfortable with good pillows. The bathroom was also clean with a good sized bath/shower combo. The downside to the bath/shower is that you have to step up and into a very high enclosure and there's no rail; can be a bit of a trick when it's wet & slippery. Towels were OK, but for this kind of hotel I'd expect there to be 2 per person plus bigger & softer.

Easy access outlets in our room so there was no need to crawl under a table or desk to plug in. This is a big plus in a room, imho.

WiFi was included in our stay, but friends have since told me that it has never been included for them before so definitely check before you book/check-in! The price for WiFi listed on the in-room menu was ridiculous, especially with so many free options around.

Check in and out was quick, efficient & friendly. The Concierge didn't seem too interested in us so we just kept walking instead of stopping to ask for help, no biggie for us.

The hotel seemed busy but we were not bothered by hallway or outside noise during the night.

This hotel is well located for restaurants, pubs, cafes and Little Creatures.

We caught a cab from Perth Qantas domestic terminal and it was about $65. There is no shuttle service. You can mess with taking the train to/from Perth and then a shuttle to the airport, but I personally wouldn't want to mess with my luggage, even carryon, doing that and it is quite time consuming.

I would definitely stay here on my next visit to Freo if I could get a similar rate but I wouldn't pay the higher rates I've seen.

First time visit in Fremantle and as soon as I arrived the Concierge greeted me with a smile and took care of my car as I checked in. The room was great with a balcony overlooking the park with giant ferries wheel. I checked the bar fridge and there was a left over used milk so I complained straight away and they gave me a new fresh milk and was apologetic. The selection of pillows is a must and you should try it guarantee that you get a proper sleep. The breakfast buffet was also great with a few hot and cold selections. Local restaurant is a must try even if you're there on a short trip. Suggest to try the Char Char Bull and Little Creatures across the park opposite the hotel. The room was clean and tidy. Overall service was good and staff were friendly and I wouldn't mind coming back again. The price was a bit high though, but again this is Fremantle!!!

Room Tip: If you want a bit of privacy get a room away from the lobby at the back overlooking the pool on the...

After a 3 day conference in the hotel, we decided to stay on for 2 more nights as we enjoyed the location so much; initially thinking we would stay elsewhere in Fremantle. There is so much to do and see around this lovely town.
The reception staff were extremely friendly and helpful, happily answering any question. The location is wonderful and so close to the harbour, so many good restaurants and cafes. The breakfast was the best spread I have ever experienced! The presentation was immaculate and fresh juices that you make yourself is always wonderful. The attention by staff was fantastic and the hospitality staff on breakfast duty are clearly well trained and most professional. We stayed in 1 night for the dinner buffet and that was also quite nice. The only problem I encountered during my stay was the spa being cold, but a complaint to the front desk saw that quickly remedied. As our taxi driver from the airport told us "The Esplanade is the place to stay in Fremantle" and I absolutely agree. Totally recommended.

Room Tip: Upstairs would have a better outlook, rather than at street level and looking over the Harbour would...

It was so pleasant reading your review of your stay with us and glad we were able to endorse your choice of hotel and add o your Fremantle experience. It is great to read you enjoyed the Rise Breakfast buffet and also had dinner with us; hopefully come Spring the weather will be a little more pleasant and we will have demand for the new al fresco that opened recently outside the Harbour Master Restaurant, and you can choose from a great selection of local produce in a tapas style menu whilst soaking up WA's great outdoors...

Kind regards

Travelling with a disabled partner makes choosing hotels difficult. On the plus side this hotel had rooms for wheelchair users and the shower was good but the bath had a rail that was impossible to reach for an able bodied person and potentially lethal. Tripadvisor reviews meant we checked the Atrium restaurant before eating - sufficient to say selection was so unappetising we braved a downpour (with a wheelchair!) to go to the Istambul restaurant round the corner which was excellent. The customer service at the Esplanade was erratic, there was no hotel guide and when I asked where I could find the relevant information the person at the front desk rattled off restaurant opening and closing times, waved in the general direction of the pool and sauna, and was generally unhelpful. The bed was comfortable and the idea of choosing a preferred pillow was great except housekeeping didn't answer the phone - we eventually got them organised from the front desk. To our surprise breakfast was quite good and the valet parking efficient and courteous but on balance we wouldn't go back.

Was disappointing to read of your experience at the hotel and in particular the service you have described as it is certainly not the service culture we pride ourselves in. I certainly agree that the front desk being the main communication with guests should be helpful, sincere and informative; this does not appear to have been your experience! I also believe the buffet to be much better than what you described and have passed on your comments ot the manager and chef as this is not the right picture I want to see of the buffet fare that we extend to our regulars and guests. Generally we get very good feedback on this area, both in variety and freshness. Sorry to see you won't be back, I assure you we are always using feedback like yours to improve and take these matters very seriously.

Regards
