“Submarine was the highlight”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2014

The museum was rather compact and a good size to kill about an hour. But the submarine tour at 1hr 15mins is a highlight - seldom do you get such a detailed tour to see so much of the interior of the submarine due to the very tight and cramped spaces not being conducive to having large groups of visitors. The tour is definitely recommended, but only if you are interested otherwise it will be an hour and half of discomfort.

“Need to visit over 2 days.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2014

Fabulous experience! Its a bit tiring to take in all at once, so to visit for a couple of hours over two days would be fab! Great staff, who helped out a lot in planning our visit, and assisted as needed during it. Great info about our history, and presented in lots of different ways, audio, dress ups for kids, and some interactive activities.

The extra exhibition about 'children in homes' was confronting, so I couldn't spend too much time there, but the take home book helped a lot with dealing with the exhibition. Fantasic exhibit from the Commonwealth museum.
Great visit - break it up with a coffee at the cafe to make it easier.

“Great day ”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2014

We spent a really great time doing the tour of the HMAS Ovens and wandering around the Maritime museum. At $35 for both it was great value and well worth the visit.

“Excellent Museum - one of the "must visits" in WA”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2014

Thankfully had plenty of time to spend here as we needed it. Joined the tour of the Oven submarine and had a fantastic guide - John Pattison - who was passionate about his subject and enthused all of us in the group - thanks John. All the staff and volunteers at the museum were really helpful and made the visit very enjoyable. It is a well set out museum that would be enjoyed by all ages as there is something there that everyone would find interesting.
