We had an Entertainment Book voucher for the museum so we went along to check it out and had a great few hours there. We did the submarine tour, which was very interesting, but a little too technical for me. It was cool to be in a once working sub though and to see how submariners spent their time (cramped, stinky and potentially really really scared!).
The museum itself had some wonderful displays for kids and adults. It covers topics from ancient seafarers discovering new cultures and resources to modern day sailing adventures and global trade. And it's a magnificent building to walk through!
We had coffee and cake at the cafe sitting outside. I sent back my first coffee because it was not very good but the staff were very happy to make me a new one and did a very good job the second time round. It was a great place to sit and watch the boats and fishermen.
I highly recommend a visit to tourists and locals alike.
