“Try the cafe instead of the restaurant”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2014

First time at the Left Bank for lunch and not too impressed. We opted for upstairs which the staff said was the fine dining option.
View over the Swan was lovely and the staff were great - pleasant, friendly and timely with drink and food orders.
We started wuth a sharing plate of chorizo, feta and turkish bread ($14). It was fine with mild chorizo, semi-liquid feta and good Turkish bread but it was more a plate for one rather than two people.
I opted for a main dish of coconut prawns with cucumber and peanut salad ($32) while my husband ordered the lemon pepper calamari which came with chips and salad ($24).
The prawns were okay but the coconut batter was well overcooked and not pleasant. The salad was good.
My husband's calamari was average.
We had two glasses of wine ($22) as well.
An average meal in an above average setting.
The Left Bank cafe downstairs looked much more interesting, vibrant and busy with a bigger menu.

“Great place to visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 30, 2014

Have been a couple of times, food good, large helpings. staff friendly. Lovely sitting outside under the shady trees and umbrellas looking onto the Swan River down in Fremantle, watching the boats. They have a cafe style restaurant down stairs and a more upmarket restaurant upstairs. They do a lovely Sunday buffet brekki.

“Great coffee, ok breakfast”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2014

Wasn't highly impressed with this place as a breakfast option. The staff were like robots, no greeting or interaction at all. Coffee was great though. I ordered the Left Bank Breakfast which was fine, until I got to the mushroom - really tasted bad ... like blue cheese. I was waiting for someone to come and ask how was the meal - but I guess instead they can read about it on here. A a big plus for the venue is the parking alongside.

“Not as good as usual”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2014

Been coming here for along time but was a first for a early Sunday evening dinner.
By the time the first meal came out it arrived stone cold. My meal arrived 20mins after the first and I am normally more than happy with the Chicken Ceasar salad but I think this time the Chef forgot what he/she was making....You couldn't see the Lettuce over the bread crumbs.....MMMM the bread crumbs where a bit odd to say the least and the chicken was so tough I couldn't get the knife through it.Hopefully this was because they where so busy so will give it another go.
