For our last day in Perth we decided to take a tour to Rottnest island. I booked a bus/ferry/bus/lunch/ferry/bus combo tour through local travel agent 'Travel Forever' on the previous Thursday.(not a last minute booking) I took time and care to ensure all areas were covered and booked.I was advised by agent to walk to the jetty as it was a better option in the morning but could catch the bus back to our Barrack St hotel. All parts of the tour were in the total cost. The ferry trips were fine although running a little late probably due to numbers using the ferry. Jo the Rottnest host was informative, punctual and welcoming and helped with directions all the way. It was a pity that the acoustics on the top level of the ferry were poor as we missed a fair bit of her commentary on the outward leg of the tour. The bus tour of the island was really good although it was running late which meant lunch booking was 15 minutes late but it didn't cause too much concern except we missed Jo's walk and talk of some of the island. Lunch was great at Aristos, a beautiful aand huge BBQ prawn salad. But we enjoyed the museum and the 'town' itself with lots of photography being done. All was adding up to a long warm but great day. The ferry back was long but we knew this. Unfortunately the day was jaded when we got to Barrack St jetty and we were tired and wanted to take up the option of the bus back to our hotel. The so called courtesy bus lacked courtesy. The driver was rude and inferred that I was lying about our tour option that included the bus drop off to hotel. It involved the following; Adina Apartments on Barrack St? never heard of them. Travel Forever agents? never heard of them. Are you sure they exist? Did you book a seat? ... we had been told it was part of our tour cost and we could hop on on way back and there was no need to book for drop off leg. This bus is free he replied. Told us Barrack St was just over there which we knew but we were tired and did not want to do the 15 minute walk up hill . But the walk we had to do as he offered no help what's so ever. To add insult to injury, we watched the Rottnest Express bus drive straight past our Barrack St hotel and turn left into Wellington St. Maybe the travel agent had to book and part fault was with him although the booking form does not show a tick box to request bus and I was told that the information of who booked tours on Saturday goes to Rottnest Tour so they would know numbers. Our voucher tickets were at the office at the jetty. There was certainly no courtesy in this courtesy bus only an arrogant rude bus driver. Unfortunately like other operations in Perth that we have used over the past week, the companies appear to pay little attention to details.
