“Lovely weekend break”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2013

We spent 3 nights here and loved it. The room was fantastic for what we wanted, although we did eat out for all meals apart from breakfast and I would imagine that people who wanted to cook a full dinner may struggle a little.

The hotel offers free WiFi, and the Pool facilities will be great once the days are warm enough to use them. There were a couple of issues for me which were the "Gym" is extremely dated and the Steam room was out of action for refurbishment.

The restaurant in the hotel was amazing, I really couldn't have asked for better food or service and having only opened a day earlier the decor was unblemished :-)

Room Tip: Ask for a room over looking the pool as you will get sunrise and sunset on the balcony

We spent 4 nights here having spotted a very good low season offer. At the price we paid we could not fault the value.

Best points: Quiet location overlooking Ria Formosa. Free secure parking (small charge peak season). Impressive central atrium with glass roof and comfortable seating, pool table and book exchange. Bright, clean and spacious air conditioned junior suite with well equipped kitchen, patio doors from both lounge and bedroom to full width terrace. TV with 2 English language news channels. The pool and gardens looked very nice.

Less good points: The furniture in the apartment, although modern, was basic. Seating was quite uncomfortable and although there was plenty of room for a coffee table, one was not supplied. The gym, whilst well equipped, was small and would be too cosy at busy times. For travellers without a car the resort is a long walk to shops etc. and the lunch menu in the restaurant is very limited low season. Wi-fi connection was mostly poor in the apartment, but better in communal area.

Room Tip: Rooms on the west side have river view and afternoon sun. Rooms at the end overlook the pool area a...

We booked to stay at the Cabanas Park for a week from the 18th Oct. Initially we decided to book something which wasn't too far away from the airport. It took us about an hour to get to the resort from the airport (we hired a car).
The cabanas Park apartments are not equipped for self catering holiday. The cooker consists of a two ring ceramic hob and a microwave. There is a full size fridge, but no freezer for ice/ ice creams for children. We were bitterly disappointed as this holiday was sold as a self catering' due to the lack of equipment and utensils we ate out every night. The rooms are tired looking and cold, two large sofa beds equipped the lounge/ dining room although VERY uncomfortable and shabby to say the least. During our stay we had two days of rain, which was unfortunate. The ground floor corridor had 2 big pools of water as the roof had a huge leak in it, not something you would expect from a 4 star resort.
The setting was lovely, however we found the hotel to be a huge let down and very disappointing. So much so we ended up checking out early to find somewhere where we could relax and enjoy the atmosphere, something which Cabanas Park lacks.
On the two days which we had heavy rain we found that we were very limited with things to do, as there was no indoor pool. There is a gym at the hotel, although is there more for ornamental purpose. The running machine's belt is very loose so was dangerous to use, despite reporting it nothing was done about it during our time there, the cross trainer feels like and sounds like it is about to fall apart, the bike seat kept slipping down to the lowest setting so was not practical to use.
The TV in the room has one English channel (bbc news 24), not great if you want to entertain the children for short periods.
The only positives about the resort are the jacuzzi, steam room and the views. Other than that a let down.
We booked into another hotel in alamancil, what a contrast.

My partner and I really enjoyed our time here; it was quiet and relaxing. The pool was lovely, as were the steam room and hot tub! Our room was spotlessly clean and our kitchenette very well-equipped (although a pint glass or two wouldn't go amiss). I have no idea why people are complaining about the beds, the mattresses were firm but certainly not hard. Reception staff were lovely, and lent us a travel adaptor as mine had broken. The free excursions with Antony were excellent (so good that you should tip) :)

We stayed on the reception entrance side of the hotel, so our view was not as nice as others. If you are staying on this side of the hotel, look down from your balcony for the cats living in the hedge (they're so cute)! The mother had five kittens and was skin and bone, so we tried to feed her up a bit! Hopefully others will do the same...

My wife and I spent a week here in a one bedroom apartment. Shopped around various websites and found a deal on Hotels4u.com £135 as opposed to others varying from £200 - £350. We asked for a room with a view over the Rio Formosa Country Park and this was honoured at check in. Room 311 was close enough to the reception to give us full wi fi access. We understood from others at the end of the complex to not be so lucky. Although it is possible to walk from the rooms to the spacious common areas and find a sofa to log on with a laptop or handheld.

This resort has a huge pool and offers a range of outdoor activities for the more energetic.

The apartment was fully kitted out for tea and coffee making and a fridge is in situ. There is not really much scope in the kitchen consul for self catering. Assume they want you to make use of the site restaurant. We didn,t based on the reviews herein. Having hired a car we were able to avoid the walk into the coastal village of Cabanas and take advantge of the fantastic eating options from fast food to gourmet cooking.

The bedroom incorporated two beds pushed together to make what is descibed as a King. This could impact on intimacy but is easily overcome with some minor inconvenience. Most of the clientele here consists of mature couples so possibly this was not a deal breaker in some cases.

One annoyance we found that the noise of scraping chairs on hard floor tile reverberated around the building with the central atrium acting as a loudspeaker. Other than that the place is comparitively tranquil. Cant end this without mentioning the lovely coastal town of Cabanas and the fantastic beach accessed by a small ferry provided free to resort residents. You will be spoilt for choice when it comes to dining options.

Marinas Bar lovely home cooked food generous portions at reasonable cost. Sky Sports, Cold beer and a friendly atmophere.

Atlantis Pizza Retaurant. real Italian pizza .... best ive tasted

Sabores de ??? located at far end of the boardwalk. Great food. We enjoyed sitting on the outside balcony overlooking the harbour and wathing the world go by.

The Little Orange Cafe is run by an expat Yorkshireman. But dont let that put you off :-) Its clean and offers a great Full English Breakfast with Tea or Coffee for €6.50

We drove to Tavira for our Curry fix. The Kohinoor Indian Restaurant was fantastic. My darling was really impressed with the Prawn Madras and the quality of the Naan bread. My Lamb Rogan Josh washed down with a cold Cobra certainly hit the spot.

Conclusion: This is a great place to those looking for a quite break away from "Brits Abroard" Would imagine Cabanas to get really busy in the Summer with the coach loads of German Tourists staying at the nearby Golden Cube complex.

Room Tip: Room 311...Nice balcony with view over the Rio Formosa country park...Free Wi Fi access.

We have just reurned from a 12 night stay at Cabanas Park and it was first class, all of the staff were both courteous and friendly.
The apartments are well appointed with a good size balcony to sit and enjoy a glass of wine watching a beautiful sunset.
We have been to Cabanas before but this will now be our Hotel of choice.

We got an incredible cheap deal on this hotel which we stayed in for the last night of our holiday in Cabanas. You would never know we were only paying a pittance given the service we received. The staff at reception were extremely helpful and friendly. The pool area was really nice during the day too. We went over to the beach on the complimentary shuttle but didn't stay as there were no beds or sun brolly's down that end and it was a real long walk in soft sandback up ( what some people moan about!) recommend walking through the town to the boats that take you over to the bar area if you need shade like me. Fabulous beach!
