“Not Quite 4 Star”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

We visited this hotel in September 2014 after reading rave reviews on Trip Advisor. Everything looked perfect and there did not seem to be anything adverse apart from the location. On arriving at the hotel by car we parked directly in front of reception. No porters were anywhere to be seen. We unloaded the car in view of the receptionist who never moved an inch. I then went into the reception area and wheeled out the Bellboy type luggage trolley, again no acknowledgement from reception. We loaded all our cases up and wheeled them to reception and checked in. To my amazement, we then had to wheel all the luggage into the lift and then to the room. Fortunately, although pensioners, we managed. We were accommodated in the rear of the hotel with a scruffy outlook over some waste land with the main road another 100 yards behind. The balcony was tiny and had a small table and one chair, not ideal for a family of three! On a couple of occasions we sat around the pool but if we wanted a drink, we had to climb stairs to the bar and ask. They then brought them to our sunbeds. Why they don't have some staff servicing the pool area is also confusing for a 4 star hotel. Having had my little moan about basic stuff, we actually got to like the hotel. The cleanliness was excellent and the breakfast bar was good. We never ate at the hotel restaurant as every time we passed, it was almost deserted, which did not appeal. Overall, a good hotel but needs to pay more attention to the little things to achieve their rating

Room Tip: Choose a room overlooking the pool

Stayed in this hotel from 24/09/14 to 27/09/14

Its a great hotel

Rooms are clean , spacious and have a very modern feel ... great natural light

The bed is really comfortable and everything works !

The room was tidied regularly and tidied up very well .. lots of personal attention to detail .. credit to the room service staff

The staff are really friendly, helpful and very patient .. i can't praise them highly enough ... it was my girlfriends birthday whilst staying here .. they didnt forget and created a nice little touch!

The hotel is quite new so I hope this isnt just the beginning but this type of attention to detail continues as it sets a good example for all the hotels .. even nameless faceless ones !

The only problem is that the hotel is a tad out of the way from Tavira town or a beach but ,to the credit of this hotel they try and accommadate that by putting on shuttles to pretty much everywhere you will need to go!

We didnt get to use these much as we had a car which is always advsiable for Portugal .. but they are there and make life much easier

So in summing up .. great hotel, great staff, lovely town ( although its quiet ) .. so make sure you stay here if you come to Tavira

Room Tip: All the rooms are great ..

Lovely quiet hotel. Staff friendly and extremely helpful. Lovely pool. Good food in restaurant/cafe. Cleanliness 10/10.
4 mins drive to Tavira or Cabanas where you have great selection of restaurants too. Had a great relaxing week.

Have been going to The Algarve for the past 8 years twice a year. Really wanted to try Tavira as a location as it's one of the few places we hadn't stayed. We were travelling with two teenagers and two younger children. This hotel was welcoming, modern and minimalistic and really appealed to us before booking, it did not disappoint on these things upon arrival either. Great pool, restaurant/bar, lounge area and comfortable beds, new bathrooms, spotless! However what I did not check out thoroughly enough was the location of this hotel..... You cannot walk anywhere from it, everything is a taxi ride away unless you want to negotiate a very busy and dusty main road. Yes there were shuttles to Cabanas in a nice air conditioned 6/8 seater hotel minibus but these stopped around 7pm. The bus offered to Tavira town was I think only twice a week. The balcony was far too small and our rooms were at the back looking over an unkept garden and the busy road, not at all relaxing and kept patio doors closed all holiday. The beach is not walkable, either have to take the shuttle or a taxi and then a ferry. Lunch/snacks in the bar were good in terms of selection and value. Half board in restaurant very expensive for what it was... 20 euros for over 12s and 10 euros for under 12s. Better off taking taxi to Cabanas and eating there. Our rooms were not made up until around 5pm each day, sometimes annoying when it was just as we were all trying to get showered and ready to go out for dinner. Breakfast was good though. My youngest son on day 2 cut the top of his head on one of the sawn off tree branches around the shaded/grass area of the pool, we did not make a fuss as did not want to spoil the holiday, my son was thankfully ok, albeit he could not swim for 5/7 days of the holiday and had to wear a cap due to the cut and stitches. This was very restrictive for us given that the hotel was remote, the pool was the only thing to do in the day and so from day 2 we were a bit stuck as a family. We did find an English speaking cinema in Tavira but going to Portugal to find sunshine and be outside and then spending time and money in the cinema watching English films was not the plan! The hotel management were very concerned and took the trouble to buy him a gift and gave us a half board credit. In summary, if you want a family holiday where you just want a pool and sunbeds for a week then go for it, if you like lots to do and to be able to walk out of your hotel to shops, activities, bars and the beach, give this one a miss.

Room Tip: One at the front, the back rooms have awful view. Also don't be afraid to ring reception if inco...

We spent a week at this hotel. The room was rather dark (curtains and walls painted in a dark colour), but OK. There was no string on the balcony to put the wet towels and bath-suits, so the hotel look quite funny... The hotel was newly renovated and the extension with the bar and restaurant look quite nice. Breakfast was good. The pool and garden in the front was nice, but garden behind look hidous.

Room Tip: Do not choose a room facing the road; there is heavy traffic.

I recently returned from Tavira having stayed at the Ozadi Tavira Hotel and we had a great time. The hotel arranged a transfer from the hotel (€55) and were very welcoming when we arrived. The hotel has been recently refurbished and has a very 'new' feel about it. The staff are very helpful and the rooms are large and clean. The pool is excellent and quiet with different types of chairs avaialble. The food and cocktails are very good and I would definitely recommend the hotel for a relaxing stay. There is a regular shuttle bus to Cabanas where you get a free boat out to the beach. One suggestion for improvement would be to provide a regular shuttle to Tavira town. It is a 20 minute walk which I normally would be fine with but it is along a main road so definitely not ideal. A taxi is only €6 in so it's not a major drawback. Overall, I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

I went on my own and had a lovely time. I was concerned by a review I had read saying the single rooms were not good. However I was in a standard room which had everything I needed. It was modern, clean and very comfortable with a seating area and balcony. The pool area was beautifully kept with endless loungers, enlarged bean bags and relaxing beds, and the staff went out of their way to help you. My only suggestion would be to have a daily special in the bistro restaurant. The hotel is quite remote so I chose to eat in every night. The food was fantastic but the menu a bit limited. Overall I would thoroughly recommend this to anyone.
