Guesthouse beautifully decorated runned by very nice couple Andy and Tamsin who do their best to make you feel comfortable.
Best breakfast ever, very good bed and right in centre of Tavira, yet a quiet place to sleep. Probably our best guesthouse in Algarve, would recommend this highly.

The many splendid reviews on TripAdvisor suggest Calçada Guesthouse is something special and it most certainly is - Andy & Tamsin welcomed me & my girlfriend so warmly that by the end of our five night stay I felt I was saying ciao to old friends. We will surely return!

We really appreciated their recommendations on arrival and throughout as well as the attention to detail that elevated our brief sojourn: the bottles of fresh water when we were met at the airport, the guest fridge on the rooftop terrace, the enlightening array of books about the history of Tavira, the little flecks of fresh mint in the breakfast fruit salad ;-) Oh yes...the rooftop terrace: a wonderful space to enjoy breakfast in the sunshine or simply unwind with a bottle of local wine.

The views encompass the Old Town with its magnificent Manueline architecture and along the River Gilão and the immediate outlook really makes one appreciate the immense scale of the restoration work undertaken - it's a stunning vista and only adds to the overall memorable experience of spending time in charming Tavira and Calçada Guesthouse. Muito Obrigado Andy & Tamsin!

Fantastic place and the nicest hosts ever!
Beautiful location, great design of the converted old Tavira's house, cosy and stylish.
Roof top terrace is amazing for breakfast or afternoon chill out with a glass of local wine and the view across the rooftops of the old town...
Will definitely come back!
Thank you Tamsin and Andy!

I chose calcada guesthouse based on the excellent reviews from this site and another well known review site on the Internet. I wasn't disappointed!

From the moment we booked, Tazmin and Andy were brilliant. We received an email prior to arrival, helped provide details of the nearest car park (we parked at the bus station which was only a short walk away). The guesthouse itself is beautifully designed. It's located on a hilly cobbled street, however, its not too far up the hill, so it's easily manageable.

The rooms are fantastic. You are provided with filtered water, air con, a wet room shower and the comfy pillows to rest your head after a hard day at the beach/sightseeing! Tazmin and Andy were really friendly and helpful; providing us with information on places to see/visit and potential places to eat that evening. There are also ample leaflets, books and brochures in the seating area to use. Breakfast was fantastic, all beautifully presented (love the little jars and the bread basket!) and tasted amazing.

Thank you for a lovely stay, we will be back!

We stayed at this Guesthouse for 2 nights in mid October 2013, having booked there based on the reviews on Trip Advisor. It met our high expectations from these reviews. Andy took excellent care of us and the Guesthouse very accurately matches the photos on the Guesthouse website and the (average 5 out of 5) reviews on Trip Advisor.

Highlights:
- We had some difficulty parking near the Guesthouse due to the one way streets and the fact that the Guesthouse is not on our Garmin map (latest version of Portugal map for 2013). As Andy's email directions advise, you should plan to park say at the nearby bus station on the river, which is free and there were always plenty of spaces to park in October;
- Breakfast was among the best that we had on the trip, including fresh bread, yoghurt, fresh fruit and boda coffee all conveniently served on a tray at your table on the rooftop patio. A bonus was that the breakfast is an extra Euro 8 per person. Since we had to leave early on the last morning before breakfast is served we only paid for what we had.
- The internet worked well and there was a small library of guide books available in the indoor tables area.
- Andy recommended that we eat at the Tevira Lounge (only a two minute walk away overlooking the famous bridge) and at A Barquinha (the little barge, on the quayside). Both were excellent.
- The tourist information office was only a 5 minute walk away.

Many thanks, Andy. And best wishes to your young family.

First off, let me say that I would like my own home to be decorated like Calcada Guesthouse is. Now, onto the really important stuff...

My boyfriend and I stayed at Calcada for 2 nights, and we absolutely loved it. You walk through an unassuming front door into a very chic, modern home. Our room was perfect. Super-modern shower, comfy bed, lots of natural light.

The absolute best part of this fabulous hotel, though, was the rooftop terrace. It's got couches and tables for lounging, as well as a hammock (which we sadly didn't use). We loved taking a bottle of wine and a book up there and watching the sunset over the Tavira rooftops.

Breakfast on the terracei was also real treat--waking up to a warm, sunny morning and having a delicious meal. Perfect. We're STILL talking about the breakfasts.

Andy and Tamsyn were extremely gracious hosts. If we're ever back in Tavira (and we hope to be!) we'll definitely stay at Calcada.

Sought this out on the basis of tripadvisor reviews and we were not disappointed. Well appointed room with access to lounge and roof terrace. Breakfast good with nice mix of fruit, bread and croissants.
