“Very Irish/British food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 21, 2012

We had an enjoyable evening meal here - don't expect true Portuguese cuisine. A great glass of Guinness was enjoyed as was my wife's steak.

Go there for straight forward unpretentious food.

Had a great night at the Black Anchor. Went to watch the football, but stayed to eat & enjoy bar singer. Fantastic value, lovely staff and great setting!

5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2012

A thoroughly enjoyable experience. One restaurant where you can feel at ease. Welcoming, friendly and sociable staff. No delays. A great family meal. Food was gorgeous. I loved the Irish vibe, top class entertainment. I would recomend it to absolutely all my friends and family. I will certaintly be returning again.

“Thought I had a find but on return a number of times just average....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2012

This restaurant is just okay. You can go on one night and get great service and on others not such great service. Food is more Irish/English than you'd normally get in Portugal which is sometimes nice but it has to be good consistently, which its not.

In summer, the outside setting of the tables is idyllic on the river with the church bells tolling in the background - very romantic but it's dangerous for people with babies or small children. Kept having to shut my eyes in case any of them fell in!!!
