3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2012

Good ambience but service not too good but it was just nice to eat outside and be with group of good friends.

“Simply very good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2012

We came across Vela 2 through TA. Simple food, well cooked (fish meat or chicken with boiled potatoes or chips). Our food was tasty.Easy to find once you know - but isn't that always the way? Very good value for money. Service poor. Overall recommended.

“Fish”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2012

If you love fish and have the capacity of Mr. Creosote then you could put this place out of business, because they just keep bringing more fish until you tell them to stop. Then they will try a few more times to give you just a little more. All for a set price.
Unfortunately if you are a meat eater you don't get the same deal, so a bit annoying if you are on meat and everyone else is on fish. Also the meat offerings are not great, very oily and salty.
Gets extremely busy at the weekend. Also very popular with the Spanish who are working one hour ahead on their time zone, so you need to be there by 12 for lunch.
Service can be slow to start and if you are late you will have to take a number and queue for a table.

“Fish, Fish and more Fish”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2012

My favourite. If you order the fish, they continue to top up your plate with more fish as soon as you finish the fish on your plate. They no longer do this with the meat dishes though. Excellent value and used a lot by the locals.

“Havent been since it moved, but sure it is still great”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2012

We havent managed to get out to the new location, but always enjoyed going to this restaurant when it was based in town. As per previous reviews, we opt for the fish and eat around four each ! And we are not talking sardine sized fish . . . Comes with boiled potatoes and salad. Rearlly good range of puddings. If I remember rightly, wine was only available in bottles, but still really good value. We hope to make it out to the new restaurant in 2012 as we hear it is just the same.
