“Trip with memories”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

We came for the first time to Skagen in Denmark to stay at Folden Hotel & Cafe.
It was a smal hotel with a nice atmosphere and personal service.
Our room was small and cozy and the breakfast was wonderful.
We are looking forward to visit this hotel again.

Booked with short leadtime Foldens Hotel for a "Old-boys night out" in Skagen. On arrival the hotel had allocated room with double beds instead of twin rooms as desired. The hotel changed the room with a smile, no excuses - they changed it ! Rooms are simple but have an adequate decor and function for a sleep only hotel.
The breakfast buffet is OK - Not elaborate!
Here in summer time many norwegians are here, having theier spirts and beers embeed in the bréakfast - strange - but their choice!

We we were satisfied with this hotel - and will come back and use it as our base for night outs in Skagen !

Room Tip: Room 106 has an excellent exit to a huge joint terrace!

Upon arrival we were greeted by friendly and helpful staff.
The rooms were pretty and comfortable, although there were two blueberries on the floor by the bed - a possible sign of a lack of cleaning?!
The location was excellent, a few minutes drive from the sand dunes and lighthouse, and a walk into the main shopping/restaurant area, but at night the noise was annoying - loud people and cars. It didn't keep me awake though so it's not a deal breaker!
The breakfast was average, a decent selection, although could have done with more fruit, but that's just my personal choice!
Overall a good hotel to use as a base for sleeping, washing and eating! All you need when wanting to explore and sightsee! Would definitely stay again if I happened to come back to the area.

Stayed there for two nights in July. Our room in the annex was okay, clean and had everything we needed for the stay. The main problem was the noise from the hotel bar. Concerts every night til 2 a.m. The music was so loud we had to shut the windows and even then the music was way too loud to be able to sleep. With no air condition it became very hot! If plan to go to bed before 2 a.m. I'd recommend staying at another hotel.

Location is convenient, right in the centre of Skagen. The room was clean and presentable. The cafe downstairs provides good value for money food. The downside is that the hotel is located at a set of traffic lights with heavy goods vehicles making their way to and from the docks very early in the morning (though not late at night). Anyone looking for peace and tranquility might want to look elsewhere.

We did not stay at the hotel, but used their restaurant

Foldens hotel has both a cafe and a restaurant.
The restaurant has a good a la carte menu with Danish food, nice location, friendly staff and good prices. Their cafe is simpler in all aspects.

Good location, near the Skagen railway station.

The building of Folden Annex (Belonging to Foldens Hotel & Cafe) is about 5 minutes talk from the reception. This was not mentioned on the booking information. When we reached there, the main gate was locked and there was no body and no information about where about of the front desk. We were lucky to meet another guest at the gate before long, who pointed out the direction of the front desk for us.

When we finally find the front desk, the lady didn't apologize for the inconvenience caused. When she handed over the room key, I asked, "Are you sure this is a triple room?" She said impatiently and firmly "Yes". When we walked for 5 another minutes and entered room, we saw only 2 beds and everything in 2 sets instead of 3.

We had to walk back to the front desk with our luggages AGAIN and told the lady about the room situation. After checking the records, she told us that there was a mistake and she would call her boss to set up an extra bed for us and we had to wait. Again, she didn't apologize and was very impatient. She didn't give eye contact and was very unfriendly during the conversation, as if we were begging for the room and not welcomed. When we finally settle down, it's more than one hour after we first reaching Foldens Annex.

The fruits at the breakfast was all rotten in the first morning.
