“Lovely Hotel and People, Great Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2013

We stayed here for 2 nights from 19th May to the 21st in Room 23. The Hotel was situated in a great location being a short distance from the beautiful town area and the Dock area with some truly great eating places. On arrival we were met by thoroughly lovely people, who were able to let us check in early even though this was not expected. The Hotel reception, public areas and rooms were beautifully maintained. A point to note is that the Hotel bar area and reception is open only until around 4pm. After that you get easy access using your keys. This was not an issue at all. The Wifi provision is excellent enabling business to continue as normal which we found very good and it met all needs as regards speed and access.
The breakfast was great, good selection and nicely monitored and managed by the staff ensuring food was always available for guests. A truly great bonus is the underground parking provision. Very well managed and easy access.
Some friends were there on the first night and they had booked room 7. A family style room with open plan sitting, kitchen and dining area. This was well maintained and had great facilities and furnishings.
This is a place we loved staying at, and would not hesitate to stay there again when in that area.

Stayed in Skagen 2 nights on the way from Legoland in Billund back to Norway.

Hotel den Gamle skibssmidie can't be claimed to be overstaffed, but we had booked and paid beforehand and there was no paper-mill coming or going.

We stayed in a (perhaps the only?) family room with our small two kids. It had two bedrooms and a rooftop terrace with some furniture. Unfortunately the wather did not allow us enjoying that. Rooms were clean and in good repair with nice furniture. Bang & Olufsen TV (the "off" button is the red circle way at the bottom of the remote!).

Very good inclusive (continental) breakfast.

The hotel is next to the harbour. Expect smells of sea and all that and views of commercial ships in dock for service and repair. If you look at a map of Skagen it's not smack bang in the middle of the city, but the central street with all it's business and resturants was less than 5 minutes walk away, and so was the guest harbor (for visiting leasure boats) with the myriad of small resturants found there. You can walk to most of Skagen from the hotel in something like 10 or 15 minutes.

Would stay again.

Room was clean and comfortable and very quiet. Staff were very friendly and helpful. No views from this hotel but conveniently located. Great little town and worth the trip up.

2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2011

We were 8 friends travelling together for a 30th b-day. Before the travel, I wanted to arrange a surprise my friend with strawberry cake (traditional Danish) and champagne for the morning. They could not arrange this but advised me to go to the nearest bakery! (well that would not be surprise would it!) So I asked for just champagne for the morning if they could surprise us with this. "NO" was the answer again but they could leave it in the apartment so it was there for our arrival, so I settled with this.
Upon arrival we were so tired, and I of course expected the champagne to be there, was it? NO!! And reception desk was closed for the day...Fortunately I had a gut feeling this would happen so I had brought my own, but come on what kind of serviced apartments are these and it was not cheap!
Next morning going to the reception, there was no receptionist...and just didn't bother waiting so went to the shops to buy everything.

Location: it is near the harbour, yes, but WARNING it stinks of it too..rotten fish everywhere in that area.
Apartment: simple, clean, not enough service for 8 persons.

We are so sorry, that you did not find our service existing, but there must have been some misunderstanding between the reception.
And the fish smell - well we are in a fishing city, and the smell can bee very ugly
Thank you for the nice words about the apartments

Best regards Gitte Pedersen

4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2009

I stayed 6 nights in hotel Lille Nord in June 2009.
It is a nice fresh hotel, nicely located fairly central in Skagen, close to the
harbour, the tourist information and the main shopping street,
but it is also only a couple of minutes walk from miles and miles of beach,
gorgeous dunes and heathland southwest of Skagen.
The room was very nice, fresh and clean, with a comfortable bed, and room
enough to move, at least for one person, although not extremely large.
And the room had a nice place to sit, a desk, and enough storage; lots
of hangers and a cupboard. There was also a small refrigerator and a small
kettle and cups, and instant coffee.
And, a small terrace outside, on the roof, windy and not very exiting view,
but I assume it would be a nice place to smoke for anyone so inclined.

Lovely breakfast of typical danish buffé type, with several different
types of lovely danish bread and rolls, different types of spreads,
cereals, and as well bacon and scrambled eggs, and fruit.

The hotel has parking space in the cellar. And they do have vacation
rentals also.
There's a little yard with tables and chairs between the buildings of
the hotel, not exactly a garden.

And the staff are nice and friendly, but, in fact you don't see them
very much.
That is because the reception and the public areas of the hotel,
are only open between 8 and 16.

You get a key, and keep it with you during your stay.
They do have 2 Internet terminals in the lobby, but, these are only
accessible when the staff is present, that is, between 8 and 16.

And I can live with that, but it seems a bit unpractical, because most
people would want to be out and about doing things during that time
when they are on vacation.
This is not what one would expect of this type of hotel.
