“Salt mines”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2013

I had been to krakow about 6 times before I made it here. It was unbelievable, so calming and peaceful The fact you can still go to mass there so far underground amazing. You do not have to be catholic to love this place. It can get a little cold in some parts. If you want to have a banquet under ground you can. The one thing I could not get over is my cell phone worked some 600?? Feet underground. Yi will love this place.

“Poland's piece of art”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2013

This is one of those places that you feel honored to have been there. The cathedral inside the mine is just amazing, unbelievable, everything made from salt. For only that, the trip is worthwhile. To get there you can take a bus or a train from Krakow for a 10 km journey. Besides, this is the first world heritage site on UNESCO list. Don't miss this place.

“Be prepared for the steps and walking”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2013

There a lot of stairs. We do not have issues but several others were stuck and out of breath. Wear a light coat as it is 200+ feet underground and ~15C. The tour moves along fairly quickly and the guide will tell you all about salt, fascinating (sarcasm) salt. We saw the light show in the cathedral. Bets part is that the crowd watches from the sides so the views are uninterrupted. Buy your camera pass before entering the cathedral. The return to the surface is fast elevator.

“Small groups ideal”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2013

This week in June is excursion time for students as exams have finished. It can be very crowded so,if you had a private group of around 6, you can skip through some large groups. I thought the history and construction amazing but the experience will depend on your guide. Good foot wear is essential as you will be walking for about 2 to 3hours and about 500 steps just to get down to the mine level. Yes the tour, does go through some shops but if you are strong -It is not as bad as the "sprookers" in the old town area. The cathedral area was worth the entry alone.
