“Delicious and light”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2014

We wanted a lighter dinner after several days of traditional Czech dinners. This fit the bill and was delicious. Right on the town square. I agree completely with the "Light and lovely" review

“Light and lovely!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2014

This was one of my favorite meals during our 3-week journey through Eastern Europe. While I love the traditional Czech meals, after over two weeks of that hearty fare, I craved a lighter, healthier meal for a change. So when our group of 4 weary travelers found this wonderful restaurant on our one night in Mikulov, it offered us a chance to relax with cold, crisp wines and refined, cool, French-inspired dishes that hit just the right spot. Without a reservation we were grateful when the friendly owner/host kindly found us a table upstairs. Our server spoke excellent English...not that we expected it, but it was appreciated, and we found her a very interesting person to converse with, as she is sophisticated, intelligent and well-traveled. She also knows her wines and helped us select a couple of delicious chilled bottles suited for our meals and the hot weather at the time. For an appetizer, two of us in our party enjoyed the cool cucumber soup, while another ordered a wonderful fois gras. For a mail course, I had a slice of classic quiche Lorraine with lots of onions in it accompanied by a green salad, while others in our group had a tasty Asian noodle dish, gnocchi, and lamb shank (I think). The food was well-prepared and satisfying without being too heavy, the local wines we selected were great, and the ambience was laid back and relaxed. Perfect! Oh, and the shop downstairs is filled with tempting gourmet groceries and treats....I wished we could have stayed in the area longer and filled a picnic basket with those goodies!

“Beautiful surprise!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2014

We have visited Mikulov on our extended weekend in South Moravia. Walking around the city center, seeking for place to eat, I've noticed a lady writing today's specials on their special board outside the restaurant. As it was quiet hot day, almost 30C, their Chilled cucumber soup was exactly what I needed. After walking in, we realised, that it's not just a organic shop full of hand crafted goods, but there is kitchen with restaurant upstairs with serious cuisine. The staff was really friendly and helpful. We ware given nice wine by the glass, I didn't mine it wasn't Moravian (Austria is only 5km away and wine wise is the same terroir any way). They seamed to be the busiest on the street and after the food came out, we understand why. The dishes were well prepared and served, good quality ingredients in modern recipes. Not like elsewhere: pork knees, goulash and dumplings-what some tourists demand, but seasonal, tasty food. Let's change the cliche that Czech is only about dumplings...
I like to try more places on my trips, but we found The pearl of Mikulov, so we returned every day for the rest of our stay.
Overall we felt in love with this place, staff and the lady owner and we recommend it everyone who wants more then average.
We will surely come back.
Thank you Sojka & spol.
