“Fortunate to Have Stayed Here”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2013

I had the opportunity to stay in this guest house for 3 nights and was delighted to find the location beautiful, the rooms comfortable and clean, and the food varied and generous. As alluded to in previous reviews, Akademia Remigum also hosts a rowing club, and the rowing theme is reflected in the decor of the house.

What really stood out in this family-run establishment, however, was the attentiveness and helpfulness of the staff. This did not only include the Director, Rima, and her family, but all those involved in running the guest house.

I would recommend Akademia Remigum without hesitation to any traveller passing by Trakai and consider myself fortunate to have come across this gem.

Just returned from an 8 night stay in this lovely guesthouse. We had a large, L-shaped room which could sleep up to four. It had superb views of Lake Galve and Trakai Island Castle, lots of storage space, very comfortable beds and a really good shower. The buffet breakfast was excellent quality and with a good choice for a small establishment. We were also offered fried eggs or omelette. The restaurant was so good we dined there four times, and there is a lovely terrace for warmer months, leading to steps down to the lake. The family and their staff were very friendly and helpful. The whole place is a very interesting rowing museum, showcasing Rima's passion for the sport. Anyone not enjoying a stay here would be very hard to please.

Room Tip: Room 4 (superior triple/quad) has great lake and castle views

I was in Trakai in August, 2013 for the World Junior Rowing Championships. I was very fortunate in finding Academia Remigum, and had the opportunity to stay there for four nights.

The owners and staff are extremely helpful and accommodating. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean. The location was within a short walk of the shops and restaurants in Trakai, as well as the castle. This is a beautiful small inn, located on the water, which will not disappoint.

The owners, Aivaras and Rima, are warm and friendly hosts who also happen to be champion rowers. Academia Remigum is Latin for "the Academy of Rowing", and Aivaras and Rima are both very proud to have rowed successfully, at a very high level, around the world. The owners and their staff all speak English well (Rima and Aivaras' son attended college in the U.S).

Anyone who has rowed, or has family associated with the sport will enjoy the small rowing museum on the property. You won't need to be a rower, though, to enjoy the hospitality and attentiveness that I experienced at this great inn.
