“Very good Indian food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2012 via mobile

Went to this Restaurant in 2010 & found it very good was surprized to see negative feedback. Of this I Would agree that it is expensive but you get what you pay for excellent Indian food. My Chicken Madras was very tasty the Bombay Aloo Potatos the best June enjoyed her Spinich Paneer. All in all I was very pleased with our meal.

The Indian food here is very authentic and very tasty. One of their locations is right next to Kiwi Bar.

“Quite expensive and average food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2012

There are not many places in Riga that serve Indian food, especially such a wide variety of dishes. It is quite pricey and you might have difficulties finding it, but if you are an Indian food fan, it's worth trying, though don't expect it to be "cream of the crops". This place closes at 11 p.m. which is a minus, especially during the weekend.

“Not great, not bad”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2012

For an off the beaten track place like Riga, having an Indian restaurant like Indian Raja is not bad. I am not abig fan of Indian restaurants outside of India and the UK. They tend to be generically boring, predictable, greasy, surly and xepensive. Well, first of all the Indian dining scene in Riga is very confusing and interesting. There are just a couple listed in Trip Advisor and other places. One of them being Indian Raja (used to be Sue's Indian Raja?) that has changed its address without telling any one. In my 5 day stay in Rga, while walking the streets I also discovered Spicy Affair, Thali and Paddy Whelan (an Irish Pub!). All of them serve Indian, Chinese and Thai. Go figure! Of course, the Chinese they serve is the Indian Chinese variety, not the authentic or American style Chinese.

Any way, to make a long story short, what works best at Indian Raja, is that there are no surly Indian waiters or managers lurking around. The menu is extensive even without the dead animals. I had aloo gobhi, dal, naan, roti, pulao and lassi. They were more than acceptable with good portions, though on the expensive side in my opinion.

The place is a difficult to find, tucked behind St. Peters Church, but it has a nice welcoming ambience.

“Best service we had in Riga”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2012

The food was well done and a refreshing change from the meat and potatoes of the Baltics. The service was fantastic which was also a refreshing change from the norm in Latvia and Lithuania.
