“Clean, Value for Money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2013

We stayed in this hotel for three nights in the last week of May 2013. It is not exactly in the heart of the city - The Old Town. Not that far too, its nearer to the Art Nouveau area. Clean, basic and decent is how we would describe it. Breakfast was included. Just like any other BnB hotel, a decent spread for breakfast. No complaints. The staff were friendly, helped us with directions and train timings etc.

Value for money. Go for it.

.... just returned from 3 nights at Albert Hotel and I was thankfully influenced by TripAdvisor review ratings when choosing this Hotel

I found it modern and clean and very good value for the price I paid. I booked directly with the Hotel itself. I stayed on Floor 5 and there was not street noise at all

The Staff were very friendly and coped very well as we were checking in even though a Coach Party of Bosnian Football Fans were checking out at the same time. All Bar Staff and Restaurant staff were very friendly too and very efficient.

We did eat one evening and had a very nice meal and again that was good value for the money we paid. Breakfast was the same every day - but hey - this is not a drawback for me as there was enough good quality food on offer that it was possible to choose lots of different "courses"

The views from the top of the Hotel are superb and the Balcony built out over the street was a great place to drink and sunbathe or watch the Sunset but personally I only went out there once just to say I had done it - but it was very popular ! Drinks were good value too

Riga itself was fantastic to visit and walk around and I would go again tomorrow without a doubt AND if I visited again I would WITHOUT DOUBT choose the Albert Hotel again as my place to stay

*DON'T STAY AT THIS HOTEL*

I have stayed at this property over the last five years because of a corporate client who has negotiated a rate with the hotel.

I cannot think of one stay that was not problematic.

This hotel tries to have it both ways - first - it appeals to package tour firms who bring coach loads of tourists to Riga. So their rooms have the "twin bed" set up that can be adjusted by putting the beds together!?! Second, they try to get business clients like me to stay and offer "upgraded" rooms which laughably include additional cushions on the bed; less threadbare towels and small bottles of Elemis toiletries and two bottles of mineral water.

Breakfast is a nightmare if there are tour groups because there is never enough space during peak hours to sit and eat. No fresh juices and no variety in the food if you are staying 3 or 4 days.

I had a run-in with the duty manager 2 years ago when I expressed my concerns. No changes have been made that meaningfully improve the client experience.

Wardrobe space that is not big enough to store clothes for more than 2 days. Ladies - you'll be shocked by the size of the wardrobe (that is not closed but a set of open shelves). Hangers cannot be removed (they are attached to the rail).

Room Tip: Try a nearby hotel for a good room!

Dear Ravenna2006,

Thank you for taking time and effort to share your feedback with us.
I am sorry that you did not enjoy your time with us and I am sorry that you felt Hotel facilities and bedroom amenities did not meet your needs.

Unfortunately we were not able to provide you with a double bed upon arrival due to high occupancy levels. Summer is indeed very busy time here at the Hotel and all efforts are made our guests feel comfortable and welcome.

I suppose it would be fair to add Hotel Management did provide you with a complimentary upgrade to an Executive room after you expressed your dissatisfaction next morning. I also tried to reach out to you during your stay to follow up however could not get in touch with you.

Once more I am sorry that you felt unhappy with your visit, if you would like to discuss these issues further please do not hesitate to get in contact with me directly.

Location involves some walking (or navigating the trolly bus network) but it's not a hardship. Quite a lot of restaurants nearby (more so than the last time I stayed there some 2-3 years ago).

The only reportable bad experience was the nerve-wracking Air Baltic bus trip to the airport which took way longer than the staff told me - due to traffic it must be said, but they never warned us how long it might take. Luckily we took an earlier than needed bus and made it in time. From the airport it was quick and easy: the elapsed time from wheels down to arriving at the hotel (drop off right at the door) was less than it takes to walk from the airplane to the baggage collection in Heathrow!

The breakfast is quite a large buffet selection. If I hadn't spent some years in Finland I would have said very large selection, as it's much better than hotels in the UK, Ireland, Estonia and other non-Scandinavian countries.

The room was adequate and quite ok for the price we paid, although we'd have like some more storage space; there were no drawers at all and only 4 or 5 hangers in the wardrobe section.

The roof-top bar was so good and the restaurants nearby so plentiful that we didn't see the need to go into the over-rated Old Town part of Riga at all (this wasn't my first time in Riga though).

I've tried other hotels in Riga, but I'll be returning to this one again the next time I visit.

Decent Hotel, Location ok, near to many Embassy's about 10-15 minute walk to city centre. Super panoramic views from the top floor Bar. Staff were ok, we only interacted at check in/out. Breakfast is repetative, and i recomend you get there earlish, as it seemed many business types stay here, and it gets busy. Also recomend using the air baltic shuttle service to/from the airport. You dont have to fly with them to use it.

I have stayed at the Albert twice, both times for business. It is a good hotel in a pretty good location. I do wish wifi had been available in the room, but it is available in the lobby. The breakfast was excellent.

I guess it depends where you are staying in the hotel but by selecting executive room and having it on floor 10, the view to the city is amazing. Try also drinks in the bar on the top floor.
Rooms are simple but modern.
