“Excellent Bed & Breakfast near the city center”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2010

Behind the old facade you'll find a very clean en nicely renovated Bed & Breakfast. Rooms look brand new, clean and modern bathroom with a great shower. Breakfast at Martina Bekereja is very good. Safe entrance and car-park. On 10 mins. walking from the old city-center. Friendly staff.

I booked B&B Riga after reading reviews on TripAdvisor. I was not disappointed. It was a very convenient place to stay, and we walked everywhere in the Old Town from there - Art Nouveau streets (where we had the best coffee in the Baltic States at Art Cafe Sienna in Strelnieku iela (street) 3, Bites Blues Club (good food and wonderful Latvian blues band), organ recital in St Gertrude's church a few blocks away, and KID bar and restaurant nearby in Gertrudes street. Our rooms were comfortable and the bakery over the road that we were given vouchers for was excellent - great pastries of many varieties. This B&B is very good value and recommended.

We`spent four nights at the B & B Riga and were not disappointed. Our room was spacious and the bathroom was ample. There were some problems with hot water but we managed.

The people in the office knew little about the public transportation. They were having problems with the Wi Fi and we did not have it in our room but in another building in an unheated area. Also they charged for it, contrary to what the web site stated.

But the price of our room, which was on the first floor facing the street & consequently noisy, was reasonable. I was able to have some laundry done overnight.

There are several dining spots within walking ditance. The tram takes about five minutes to the center of Riga & the old town.

If you do not want to spend a lot of money for a decent, clean, well located abode, this is it.

I can repeat what most other reviewers have mentioned about this place. Clean & OK equipped, but no luxury. However, we travelled with a baby, so for us it was important to be on the ground floor, which we did. No elevator, so ensure your booking is a match with your need.... Also the breakfast was in a bakery across the street, meaning that we needed to be two to get the trolley up/down the stairs from the street into the (very small) bakery. Nice to have a small kitchen in the flat, and a good Rimi store just one minute away ensured we had everything we needed in the fridge. Our flat was in the backyard, so we had a quiet and comfortable sleep five nights in a row. And since we had to stay in the flat in the evening with our baby sleeping (in the separate bedroom); we really enjoyed that the living room was much larger than a hotel room at the double price would have been.

Place was quite good, staff not exactly the friendliest people in the world but with 22 drunken lads checking in you could see why

Rooms are large and clean and quite central, would recommend for a weekend, Never did get that breakfast though,

Excellent location, 10-15 minutes from the center of the town.
Very clean and simple but well equipped apartments, very quiet. Good bedroom, good bathroom, nothing to complaint about concerning the "bed" part. And not expensive.
Don't be afraid by the soviet-era style of the stairs (old but clean !), behind the door everything is OK !
Our reservation precised that the breakfast was included (not surprising, for a so-called "Bed & Breakfast"). But when we asked where the breakfast will be served the next morning, the lady at the front desk advised us that in July the bakery across the street was unfortunately closed, meaning there will be no breakfast available at all for us. She accepted to make us a reduction of ONE euro per day and per adult (we were 4, my wife and I and our 2 children), and only when I asked her for a compensation. She told us the breakfast we could not have was really nothing to remember, just a cup of instant coffee or tea and a small piece of bread, which doesn't seem true when I read other comments here... She also pretended that "B&B" is a general concept that doesn't necessarily include "Breakfast". We were on holidays and I didn't want to argue more with her...
When checking out she had forgotten the one-euro rebate previously agreed. I really don't care for a few euros less or more, but of course I asked her to correct the bill.
Next time, we will maybe stay again at B&B Riga. Because the location is good, and for the cleanliness and the quality of the accomodation. And also because I'd like to know the truth about this BREAKFAST !
Last: they propose to organize the transfer from or to the airport, for 25 Euros. We took a taxi at the Airport (very easy to find - just follow the signs), and it cost us around 10 Euros only. And there is a currency exchange office at the airport, just on the way between the luggage collection and the exist of the international zone.

  • Liked — quality and cleanliness of the apartment
  • Disliked — Breakfast, poor attitude of the lady a the frontdesk
